Not all Saps are alike. This is 100% sap from a tree in the rain forest of Peru. It is very dark. You need to learn the proper way to apply it to skin. If I had to choose ONE item to put in a first aid kit, it would be this product. If used correctly, you can't go wrong.

I don't know the difference your speaking of, I can tell you I ordered the 4 oz bottle, and it is the sap. I would recommend this product to anyone that knows how to use this. Most people have never heard of it. This bottle I bought is comparable in quality to what I purchased while in Ecuador if that helps you at all.
