Growing Up with God: Everyday Adventures of Hearing God's Voice

This book is AMAZING on how it teaches kids about the Prophetic and prophetic culture. The stories are so good and really speak to kids. My son is 3 1/2 and he absolutely LOVES this book, and we read it before bedtime. Shawn did an amazing job on this book. The art isn't my favorite, but it suits my son, so it is fine to me.

I purchased this book over the summer for my 10 year old granddaughter as I knew I would have her for 2 months and wanted to plant good seeds in her heart. This book did not disappoint!! We started out that I would read a page and then she would read a page. Mid way through the first chapter, she asked if she could just read it to me as she was so intrigued with what would happen next. She really enjoyed the stories and it became a conversation opportunity as she read a chapter a day to me. Really impressed and would love more Christian children’s books with so much “spiritual adventure”!

This book reads easy enough for our 7 year to understand, yet spiritually challenges our twin 9 year olds, as well as our 12 year old. The prophetic training lessons inserted throughout this book are practical, simple and saturated with the Presence of God. Plus, it's funny and entertaining for the whole family as we read it together each night. So good! We will definitely read this several times (repetition increases retention). Thank you Shawn for this amazing resource for our kids!

We are 3 chapters into this book but so far we are loving it! My 6 year old sons are enjoying the story and keep asking us to read ahead. I can see where the story will appeal to older children but love that my 6 year olds can also grasp it. I am most excited about this book as a parenting tool as I want to raise my children to be sensitive to Holy Spirit but am still figuring it out myself. We have heard so much about Shawn Bolz from our family members but this is the first of his books that my husband and I have purchased. My husband has read to the children the last two nights and said last night "this book keeps making me cry"... I'm not sure exactly why but it definitely makes me want to go back and read the chapters I missed -- I'm assuming it is just speaking to his heart as he reads to the kids.

My daughter is 8 so on the young side for this book. We haven't found the story to be really engaging so she isn't asking to read more like she has with other books. We are only two chapters in so it certainly has potential to get better. Stories can be great teachers so we will still finish the book as the principles and ideas it teaches are very worthwhile and children are more open to this format than a lecture!

Months later and my daughter was telling us about situations from the book so it was very impactful for her. She was also sharing with an unsaved grownup friend of ours how she's learning to hear from God. I wish there were more resources like this or from this series as I'd like her to keep growing in this area.

This book even taught ME some lessons!! We read it at night to our 3,4 and 6 yr olds. I would say the 6 yr old was the only one old enough to understand some of the wisdom in this book. However, I know it's a resource we can revisit time and time again as the kids get older.

Our kids are really hearing God's voice, and not just small things. They are hearing God's voice over thier futures and during extremely difficult social matters in school. This book has an annointing and favor on it!

I got this to read with my nephews aged 11yrs and 8yrs over Christmas having had conversations with them previously on how to hear God speak - how do we know it's God and not just our own thoughts etc. Having seen some of Shawn Bolz's teachings online and his amazing gift in hearing God speak specific words to encourage people I thought this book would be a great place to start. I was not disappointed. Nor were my nephews. We had to navigate a few Americanisms at the beginning (translating into our Britsh context) and I had to explain a little on what a "prophetic word" or "word of knowledge" was. But the story line kept us all wrapt and hankering after just one more chapter each night! I was encouraged that the boys even wanted to have a go at some of the practical ways the kids in the story were listening to God. As the sub-title suggests this book really does make hearing God speak into an everyday adventure. It encouraged us all to "have a go" and not fear making mistakes. The storyline emphasises that fundamentally it's about love - firstly God wants to be friends with us (love us) and secondly he wants to love people through us loving them. He wants to speak to us to help us do that better. A great read. I hope there'll be a sequel or more like this to come.

Bought for my children to read. My 9 year old daughter has been completely enamoured with the book. It’s really impacted her.Definitely recommend for all kids.

My daughters 7 and 9 loved this book, the illustrations, the adventures and the relationships the characters developed when they asked God for vision. Wonderful, now we need another one!

Gave this to my devoutly Catholic niece who just received Jesus in her first Holy Communion and she said this was the best book she has ever read. She reads a lot of books so I am overjoyed that she got something positive out of this.
