Excellent set. Very happy I went with these over the other options on Amazon!
I was looking for some weights for home use. After months of being indecisive I boiled my search down to Ironmasters or a 200 lb set on Amazon. I can't tell you how much of a better decision this particular set was over the alternatives. Ironmasters are well made and highly reviewed, however you're locked in to a very expensive/proprietary system if you go that route - more than $500 for them. If you want more weight the upgrade kit from 75 lbs to 125 lbs is another $225.Here, for about $1 per pound, you get some bars/collars and 25 lbs more of weights per bar. The benefit with these is 1 inch standard bars/weights, nothing is proprietary. You can buy more standard bars(ez curl, straight etc) or more standard weights from Pro Iron, or any other vendor, and interchange everything easily....for a much lower price. This gives you a cheaper and easier way to piecemeal a full home gym together over time....for about the same a few expensive dumbbells would have cost.I chose the Pro Iron set over the other vendors because of the reviews about cheap chrome/black paint finishes on the weights/bars flaking off during workouts and weights that had a lingering smell. That is not the case with these. They arrived fast, 1-3 day flat rate priority mail boxes, do not put off some weird odor or flake a bunch of paint chips all over my face while I'm working out. The rubber washers on the collars and bars really keep the weights secure so they don't spin around while you're working out like cheaper sets. Overall, I couldn't be happier.Would you rather pay $750+ for 200 lbs of weight, or $200 for 200 lbs of weight?

Perfect for what I was looking for
I am by no means a body builder or gym rat, but these would probably satisfy even the likes of them. I ordered the 105 lb dumbell set, and couldn't be happier. The main driver for my purchase was the price. At just over $1/lb, it really is a good deal. I searched far and wide on amazon, and the only barbell set cheaper had a lot of reviews that said it had a "bad smell" which wouldn't work for me because this set is currently being used where I sleep. The handles that come with it are great. There is a lot of space to add a lot more weight if you wanted to. I agree with another reviewer that you have to be careful not to scratch yourself, but I am a pretty big buy so that isn't a big deal to me. It might be for smaller people. The plates are very professional - glossy, no smell, not oily. The stopper is great, and the rubber washers are a nice touch.I really like this set and would recommend it to anyone.

A solid value
I started out with hexagonal dumbbells from Champion and Reebok but wish I switched to these earlier as they're pound-for-pound a much better value. Also, both Target and Amazon are either out-of-stock or don't stock some sizes in the hexagonals. With these, you have the ability to add weights in smaller increments rather than having to go up five pounds.I like the screw-on fasteners since they really lock the plates on. The spring-loaded versions seem dicier. Hexagonal weights don't roll but I don't consider that to be a big problem with these. I will definitely buy another set once I get up to speed with these. The only drawback is the weights took nearly two weeks to arrive. The ProTek rep was very apologetic. I assume this was a problem with USPS.

Happy
Bought the 45 lb set - two dumbbell handles, plus 1.25, 2.5 and 5 pound weights. I wanted something simple for home use, and wasn't sure I wanted to spend a lot.I certainly didn't EXPECT much, but this set has pleasantly exceeded my expectations. The set came in it's own unopened box, was clean and well packed. Everything from the collars to the spacers to the weights seem well made and functional. I bought a cheap pair of fingerless weight-training gloves, and I've already enjoyed a week of good workouts. Highly recommended.

The weights themselves have held up pretty well too
I have been using these for about 5 months now and they are still holding together. No chipping or flaking, just obvious wear from my grip. The weights themselves have held up pretty well too. I have noticed the weights loosen when moving them around but, never while actually lifting. It's mostly been caused from sliding motions while moving them around the floor. The handles are a little on the rough side but, if that is really an issue you could always get a pair of gloves.Bottom line, they get the job done and well worth the price, especially for someone just getting into fitness.

These are great, especially the stay-tight clamps
These are great, especially the stay-tight clamps. The only reason that I don't give 5 stars is that the bar is slightly bigger diameter than the rest of my weights. I bought these to replace dumbbells that I already have, and wanted to be able to use the additional plates, but they don't all fit.

Affordable, versatile yet dangerous!
Very affordable fir what you get with poundage and versatility within the dumbell world...HOWEVER, the chrome finish is a HAZARD! It did not take long before the chrome was flaking off of the ends. This easily slices fingers/hands. Just beware, as they are not the best quality.

Awesome Deal for the money!
ive used these things a bunch, droped em, scraped em. No signs of weakness. They're not super high quality feeling or nothing but the bottom line is weight is weight, and these were the cheapest ones i found being 200 lbs!But in the same respect they wont let you down... they work, bottom line.I strongly recommend these to weight lifters and athletes who lift heavy....!
