I cooked this on the stove tonight according to normal rice instructions. Namely, two to one, water to rice, 20 minutes on low heat. I say this because there are no instructions on the package. You need to cook it to your preference. Next time I will try it for 15 minutes instead.It's a nice texture and feels very nourishing. It seems like it will go with anything without changing the nature of the dish you serve it with. I know what awesome benefits bamboo has for hair, skin, and nails, so I'm super happy about that.My favorite thing about this product is that it eliminates one of the steps in cooking. As a primarily plant-based eater, I usually start cooking a grain and then figure out what protein to have. This product contains lentils, so it's a two in one step. A time saver. I Love that. Plus the bamboo and ancient grains... I can feel my microbiome doing the happy dance as it's digesting. Hehe.If you're bored with plain rice or quinoa, and ready to ask your side dish to serve up protein and be a beauty product, you might be ready to give this a try. Prepare yourself, it doesn't taste 'normal', but I can envision lots of ways to enjoy it. Next time I think I'll put it in soup.I'm already wanting to share some with my other plant-based friends. One star comes off for the white rice instead of whole grain. Despite that I'm pleased with this product, and happy that I bought it.

Mix cooked well and was hearty and satisfying. Amaranth has a unique flavour, a bit like dirt and compost, so thankfully it did not come through strongly.

A unique and healthy food. I'm so happy it contains the bamboo extract. I think it's a great value for the money However there are absolutely no cooking directions on the packages.

This sounds good in theory and separately mixed might not be bad. The problem is like many said though: you’re going to eat mushy rocks. The blend of grains is such that each takes a different cook time. So rather than having a fresh cooked batch of everything, you must overcook half your blend to even slightly cook the rest. The result is a porridge with sand in it.Also, the smell is so godawful it took three days of opened windows to make my house normal again.I tried to feed this to my garbage disposal hens, but even they turned up their beaks. 0/5 stars, which is a shame because I like Yupik’s other products.

Don't get me wrong, I love Yupik products but the Yupik Organic Mix, Quinoa & Bamboo Rice, 2.2 lb, Non-GMO, Vegan, Gluten-Free was a miss for me. Cooking instructions on the package should be added to help consumers. I cooked it like I cook rice or quinoa but the rice seemed overcooked, the quinoa was good but there was a crunchy sand-like component in my mix. I've cooked it twice and cannot stomach another round. I hope that I did not get a bad batch; will hope that Yupik will make this right and offer a refund or a substitution.

Yupik is the gold standard, in my opinion. Their stuff is beautiful....always. Thanks, Yupik. Took me a long, long time to find a reputable grain dealer. You're the best!
