these help reduce the diameter of my woven work (thereby making it look less messy, as well!)
I am pretty new to wire work and I bought 4- and 6-prong wire knitting spools. Well, I am not very good at using those yet and the knitted tubes I produce are kind of ugly and uneven. So I bought this to try to improve the way they look. (I am working with pretty small wire right now, like 28 gauge, because it is easier to handle with the spools I have.)These definitely help. They are pretty easy to hold onto (I have small hands and weak wrists; if you want to make the grip more comfortable, wrap it with something like that cushioned tape you put around tennis racket handles) and there are 33 different hole sizes between the two drawplates. I haven't got much use for the very smallest holes yet, but it is nice that they are there in case I need them in the future. What I have been doing is pulling my wire knitting through successively smaller holes (generally starting on the plate with larger holes, which I use more often) to even it up without forcing too much change in my pieces at once. It is not too difficult for me to pull through and my finished products look much better after using these (more even and uniform in diameter). I grip the woven pieces I am pulling through with nylon-tipped flat pliers. These are pretty sturdy plastic and do not mar the wire. Right now, I am using color-coated wire (I mostly have been working with color coated copper "artistic wire" or just plain copper). You do scratch the plastic drawplates a little with the wire (probably I will develop better technique over time and this will be less of an issue). The edges of the holes are round on one side and it is easier to draw my knitted items through starting from that side.Anyway, this is a great, inexpensive item for a beginner. I am in the phase of getting inexpensive tools right now, to even see how well I like doing wire work. Don't want to go crazy right out of the gate with the spendy tools. (So far, so good, though.)

They do the job
These are your typical plastic drawplates. The plastic is smooth, and the variety of sizes is great. They don't feel exceptionally sturdy, and I don't see them holding up for very many projects, but they are inexpensive enough that I wouldn't worry about them.I would buy them again.

Simple to Use But May Scratch Colored Wires
I own several large scale draw plates for Viking Knit including another identical one from Beadsmith. I had a deadline and couldn't find either that one or my favorite from another provider. With holes on two plates, this draw plate provides a wide range of holes (almost twice as many as my favorite plate with the same range of sizes) which decrease in size in smaller increments, making it easy to use and a bit gentler on your wire. If you use wires in natural metallic colors or colors which are guaranteed not to scrape off you probably won't lose much if any color. This plate is made from a hard, molded plastic with smoothly camfered edges. Definitely gentler on wire than the metal plates and hardwood plates designed more for wire and very small chains (which only have small holes). Holes will not enlarge after a few uses as with the plates made from soft woods. But my favorite plate, made from high density urethane is still the best. It now costs less than when I first bought one but is much harder to locate and may be disappearing from the marketplace. If that's the case the Beadsmith model will be your best alternative among those I've tested.

Works wonderfully
I bought these draw plates after I got into Viking wire knitting/weaving. I was a bit skeptical because a lot of other crafters said wood was the way to go but these work fantastic and are light weight so it’s easy to toss them in my craft bag and take them along to keep working. They are sturdy and the holes do not have any rough edges to scrape the wire and leave marks.

Very nice draw plates
Love that these draw plates come with so many different size holes to choose from. Also love that they are made out of plastic and they are nice and smooth and will not Mar the Finish of your knit.

Works great
I love these for my viking knit, just be cautious not to over pull, it will damage the wire. Slight resistance is fine, but if it's really tight just stop. I've never managed to get through the smallest draw.
