Works great!
This is my second year using these balls. We live in Florida. We set out two of them near the conservation area on our property since we tend to get yellow flies that have a mean bite. After just 3 weeks out, the balls are 30-50% covered with yellow flies and other flying insects. They do not totally eliminate the flies since they continue to breed in the surrounding area, but significantly reduce the population in the area where they are placed. In a few weeks we will put another coat of spray so they continue to work during the summer. I think they work best when placed where under shade or partial shade. We place ours at the edge of the canopy of an oak tree.

Epic waste of money and effort
We have have these in place for 3 days. Utterly ineffective for horseflies. In fact, there aren't 5 insects of any kind trapped by the 3 balls. We have a LOT of horseflies. You'd think they would have some effect but nada!

They work exactly as they say!
I have three of these in my backyard. They come with a product that you slather all over them. I would suggest using gloves and using them to apply the product versus the brush. They are very sticky. The balls look like graveyards for the biting horsefly and deer flies. It has greatly improved the outdoor for my family and pets. I’m not sure how to clean the product off, so I bought spray cans of the sticky residue and have just been coating those even more. It is sad that when you’re done you throw them away because they will not degrade in the trash. I had left them up all winter. One of them survived as the other two became casualties of my sons target practice. So I think they can be left out over the winter time and then just cleaned off with some water, dried with the air, and then re-sprayed for the next season. That is my plan.

Messy as crap!
One so I like the idea of the bug ball. We just put them up today in hope to help with the flies. So I can’t review on their ability to work. What I can review is how it arrived and how the assembly went.First off!! When it arrived the adhesive was ALL over inside the box and on the bags. Was even double boxed. Was a complete huge mess. Got it all over my hands and half the little bottle of adhesive had leaked out. Also learned the only way to get it off anything is oil. I just used veggie oil and put it on the areas that the stuff got on and then used soap to get the oil off. That alone turned me off the product.Secondly. This is super messy and I won’t order this one again. To apply the adhesive after you get the balls blown up is a process. You have to brush on the adhesive and that is extremely time consuming and a lot of work. I tried brushing it on little at a time being very careful with it and still managed to get it on me and that was with it hung up already. Then I tried the second ball. I decided to put on the adhesive the same way as the first one but hold the ball till it was done and string it up. Even after being extremely careful not to get anything on me I went to hang it up and managed to get it all down my one arm that accidentally touched the ball. By the time I was onto the 3rd ball I was annoyed and sticky as hell. I decided to pour it from the little bottle onto the ball and use the brush and move the adhesive around. That method worked the best but still messy none the less. Now after I got everything hung up I realized the adhesive was dripping down the ball and onto the ground. And guess what my dog did. Laid right under the ball. He laid on what was on the ground plus what had dropped on him. My dog is a pain in the arse. Now I have to oil and bath my dog to get this crap off him and he don’t like baths so lucky me. For all the work this was I hope it works. If your lookin at this one try to get the one with the spray adhesive because this one is waaaaayyyyyyy too messy !!

Must have for Florida summers
You will need something to blow up the balls with. The can of sticky stuff can be gross, so use disposable gloves.Tip: apply the sticky stuff onto other items in the yard… for example before I throw away plastic bottles or cups I’ll slather it with the goo and the bugs land on it as well.

Love My Sticky Black Balls!
These work great, picture is after 24 hours of use. I forgot to take more pictures, but after a month they were all covered with Green Heads and Black deer/strawberry flies. Save yourself time and get the spray can vs the can you have to "paint" on. I used my own larger paint brush but still too time consuming and messy. I know someone who got the spray and it worked as well for them. Location is key, keep them 2-3 feet off the ground, any higher and they don't work as well. They also do better in open spaces.

BugBall Bust - Not worth your $$
Hanging for 12 days now and not a single deer or horse fly has been caught. Blood-Suckers are still biting me and my horses. ? SO... I'm back to swatting them flies myself each night when I go out to tend to my herd. 'BugBall' has caught gnats and other small flying things; oh brother. Then... you have to re-apply sticky adhesion frequently on hot days and after dewy mornings. BTW: this 'BugBall' product was my last resort to target the BIG blood-sucking flies: after using everything at my disposal to combat the smaller flies that return every year. For your information>>> my war on flies include; fly parasites, baits, traps, pour-on, spray, paste, creams and feed-through...these work. NOT the 'BugBall'. Sorry BugBall but you 'bite' my pocket book and I had to let you know.

Sticky stuff does not catch horseflies and created a mess
I rarely write reviews but this product was useless as provided. The small can of goo had a tiny brush and did not contain enough sticky stuff to cover all of the balls. The goo was not sticky enough to catch one horsefly even though they were landing on the ball when I was applying the stuff. Worse yet, the goo melted in the slightest heat (black ball should be out in sun for best effectiveness) and dripped onto the ground killing the grass.I purchased some tree tanglefoot and spread it over the ball which seems to work much better. They definitely need to provide a better sticky product that does not drip and catches horseflies. Make sure to provide enough and a means to easily apply it.
