Great sound, not loud enough to overcome machinery
Super great sound, easy to link/operate, long battery life. However if you have forklifts, condors/snorkels, high lifts etc around it will get drowned out. I bought the pkg with the carbon fiber case; case is flimsy, not hard. It will protect the speaker in my tool box but with limited protection from impact.

Best portable speaker!
I have owned a few. Sound and bass is awesome for the price of it. Great size we take it on the boat, camping and back yard at the pool. Buy it!! You won’t regret it. Jbl is the best!

love this speaker, hate the app for it.
awesome speaker that puts out a sound that you wouldnt think that a monospeaker would put out. i am extremely annoyed that the prime day price for this (which was a featured item) was $99.95 the exact going rate that it is a month later. WTH amazon its not exactly a prime day deal if the listed prime day price is the same price as its normal price. i'm willing to overlook that crap purely because it is a quality speaker as far as portables go. i would have preferred a dust ingress protection rating but thats not a deal killer (the flip 6 is IP67). the app for it is trash. party boost when it actually works is good. id just forgo the app and pair it with whatever.

Not what I expected
JBL is always my go to but disappointed in the Flip 5. Battery life not much. The port for charging does not have a cover like the Flip 4. Not much to write home about

Great speakers, BUUUUTT...
I love how these speakers sound! But they sound better in Stereo L/R mode than the mono PartyBoost mode. The problem is, getting them paired into Stereo mode is a constant hassle and challenge. I mean, it's doable... but difficult. It requires the JBL Connect app, and this does not always cooperate. Sometimes I have to turn the speakers off and restart the app a number of times before I get the option to choose Stereo L/R mode. And that's IF after choosing this option, it doesn't revert to Mono PartyBoost mode. Kind of weird that flat dull mono quality sound is considered 'PartyBoost'. But whatever. Have tried contacting JBL about the issue and they gave me a series of steps to follow to get the speakers paired into Stereo L/R mode:1. Connect the first speaker with your phone and keep music streaming2. Open the JBL Connect App on your phone and wait until your first PartyBoost speaker shows up on the display3. Once the first speaker shows up on the app, press PartyBoost button4. Switch on the second JBL PartyBoost enabled speaker, and quick press the PartyBoost button too5. In a few seconds you should see both PartyBoost enabled speakers show up on the app. You will then see the option to choose "Party" and "Stereo"6. Choose "Stereo" and your two speakers should be displayed. You will have the option to choose between the Left and Right Channel.Like, really? The Sony XBL speakers have a button 'ADD' on the side that does this in one quick step.https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01N4TIRUD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1I thought paying 3x as much for a speaker might just provide a better quality experience, overall. It's a good thing I love the high quality sound, or I would return these - as JBL told me to do, since they could offer no other solution for this issue.

All I can say is, what happened JBL?
So my husband had a Flip 2 or 3 or something, it was the model before this one, anyway. It was awesome, I was totally envious. So I bought this one thinking I'd make HIM envious. Long story short, I'm embarrassed that I bought this. I have owned 20$ speakers that were on par with this piece of crap. The connections issues are ridiculous for one. We went for a walk with it and we were holding it - anytime your arm moved a little in stride, this thing disconnected. It doesn't just disconnect either, it made the UGLIEST noise when it did, and believe you me, you will be hearing that ugly noise a lot with how unstable the connection is. I tested the connection in multiple ways, with multiple devices as well. It became a literal physical dance just trying to keep the connection stable. Not sure what the battery life is like, as I couldn't stand the thing long enough to listen to it longer than two hours for testing and troubleshooting. I don't even know what to tell you about the sound. The bass is quite powerful and punchy, but it does not make up for the abysmal sound quality. Was like listening to music from the next door neighbor's house while you were underwater. The price for this thing is a joke, this entire thing is a joke, and we laughed and then cried when we looked at the balance in the bank afterward. Pure disappointment for you, JBL. For shame.

Great Sound & Portability
This is my second JBL Flip Speaker. I have a 4 wich is great. The Flip 5 comes with a new party boost feature. This allows you to gang more speakers together and also allows you to set them up in stereo mode. But you can't gang the 4 & 5 together.
