Of course they are more fragile than plastic or non-insulated glasses, but...
Any insulated glass product is going to be thinner than a non-insulated glass produce. So if the surface they are usually used on is stone, expect this glass to more easily break when it hits that surface at sufficient speed. However, I have never had a problem with these glasses on an acrylic or wooden surface....unless I tip it over. I've used them during just about every meal over the last 4 years with only two breaking as a result of being accidently tipped over; I immediately replaced them because these glasses are well worth it. I also have the Bodum Pavina 15-Ounce Double-Wall Thermo Large Glass, Set of 2 ...this glass is more fragile and I don't plan to replace it after the last one breaks. The Cooler/Beer version is pretty rugged for what it does: It keeps a cool beverage cool, is easy to handle, holds over 12 oz., has both an artistic as well as practical shape, and doesn't break as easily as the 15-Ounce glass. One reviewer complained there was not a vacuum between the insulated sections; that reviewer might be surprised to learn that even insulated windows do not have a vacuum between the panes; a thin layer of air makes for good insulation. If you are wise enough to avoid having a granite counter surface, then you are also likely to enjoy these glasses.

Excellent glasses, but not the ones shown
I've enjoyed using these all-purposes glasses for tasks ranging from very hot (scalding coffee wont affect the outside surface temp at all) to very cold (they're great for ice cream, for example). Also the Assam design is a lot more elegant than their other lines. Unfortunatly, they break very easily; my roommate and I have gone through about 8 breaks in the past year, so keep that in mind.More significant, the picture shown for this item is NOT the actual glasses; the real glasses are significantly taller than the ones shown here. I bought these thinking that they would be similar in height to the Bodum Pavina Beer glasses (another one of their lines) and in fact they are half again as tall. The pictures show the inflection point of the curve to be about a third of the way down; in reality they are about a fifth (the point of that is only to say that its not an image scaling issue, but that the glasses in the picture are incorrect)Despite that, I've been very happy with them, so no complaints here (although I spent another $20 to buy the ones I thought I was getting!)

Great Insulated Glass
Unfortunately I have had a hard time replacing Bodum glasses I have broken. This particular style was the only one of three different styles we have that were the same dimensions. The other 2 styles may have held the same amount noted, but were 1” shorter or 1” wider! I did not realize these were coming from the UK so that presented problems returning. Amazon should have given me my money back which they did, but they should never have expected me to return them! Very costly error.

Love these! Bobby Flay used these glasses on his show, Brunch with Bobby, specifically in the episode, Luck of the Irish, to make a tea latte. I was hesitant to try these because of the preponderance of reviews that warned against easy breakage. I expected glass so thin that they would shatter like eggshells at the slightest touch. I also expected them to arrive broken. Not so. They arrived wrapped in double layers of bubble wrap inside the box, which was then placed in the Amazon box. They were well protected. Not only was my tea latte beautiful to behold, I did not burn my hand the way I had with my regular glasses when attempting to sip this latte. As for the delicacy of the glass itself, I did not find them to be that fragile. I mean, they are glass, and glass breaks. That said, I would not use these for everyday glasses. I intend to only use them for the specific purpose of the amazing tea latte.

FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
Just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!! I’ve been trying to get this model of the glasses for over a year. My Ex-Wife broke my last 4, she’s did it on purpose too. Thank goodness that you were able to send this to me. You are the best!!! These arrived in perfect condition where in the past I always get these cracked. Everything was beyond expectations, and these were shipped to the USA from the UK, and arrived PERFECTLY!

Seems fine to me
I've had the 9-ounce version of these for about 3 years now, and have been treating them fairly casually, running them through the dishwasher, and use them pretty much daily, including plonking ice cubes into them. They have held up really well, and have not developed any cloudiness from the dishwasher. The double-walled construction keeps condensation from forming so you don't need a coaster, and because they are glass, they don't develop off odors. I decided to get some larger ones for the summer, and was somewhat concerned about all the reviews that say they are delicate. I've had this 13 ounce version for about 3 weeks now, and they are doing fine so far. Have held up to ice, both manual washing and dishwasher, the occasional tipping-over in the sink. I wouldn't mind if they were a bit wider - it's a tight squeeze to reach the bottom with your sponge when handwashing.Updated after 3 months of ownership - still going strong...

Great For Small Hands
The primary reason I like these is because I don't have to use coasters! They truly are insulated, and after several uses, they haven't had a drop of condensation on the outside. Also, I do like the fact that they're so thin and lightweight that they feel kind of like air in my hands. The primary reasons I won't buy any more are one, because of the price, and two, because I have to be too careful with them. The are fine in the dishwasher, but when I'm using one, I'm always afraid I'm going to drop it and lose what I consider to be a considerable financial investment. When all four of my Bodums break, that's the end for me, unless they've gone way down in price by that time.

Nice overall but, only 12 oz!
These are nice glasses, lightweight and insulate very well: better than Sun's Tea 16oz on both insulating and weight. These “13.5 oz” glasses barely hold 12 oz. I bought these for drinking beer and with a careful pour with minimal foam, the beer is within 1/8th inch of the brim. Difficult to walk from the kitchen to the Living Room without spilling any. 4 Stars for misleading product with 13.5 oz.

Ridiculously Flimsy By Design!
Bought these glasses so that I could enjoy hot/cold drinks without condensation or hot surfaces - but they are delicate to the point of them being useless. I am extremely careful with any of my posessions - but within 2 months of buying these expensive glasses both were smashed to pieces. The first one broke when I dropped an ice cube into it - a normal ice cube from the height of the glass - and when it landed the inside glass totally shattered. The second one lasted slight longer but accidently got tilted over - and the *SECOND* the rim of the glass hit the desk it was knocked over on (Not even falling from the desk onto the floor, but just onto the desk itself) once again the inside glass terminally shattered. Would not recommend at all - instead consider getting better designed models that are not so ludicrously flimsy by design and are more robust. (And cheaper!)

Far, far too fragile.
The centre of gravity on these is such that they will easily tip once empty, and will shatter with the slightest pressure on the 'fold' at the top. Both have gone within 7 months of receiving them, from tipping onto a wood surface . They are also really difficult to clean effectively, as the central section is very narrow, and you risk putting pressure on the glass and shattering it whencleaning the bottom. Not the quality I'd expect from the brand or the price!

great. Just narrow at the base for a hand wash
I love bodum glasses. they are such a clever design, and hold hot and cold drinks without being able to tell the difference on the outside.I have the normal glasses, but wanted something for my coffees in the morning. These are just as good as the smaller glasses, but are a bit more difficult to clean because of the narrow bottom. That's the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5.Others have commented that these are dishwasher safe and are covered by their warranty if they are dishwashed, but because of the rubber seal at the base needing to seal the inner chamber, I don't risk it. I hand wash them instead

Good for cold drinks, not for hot.
The Assam is really comfortable to hold and drink out of - much better than the Pavina. The tall double-walled glasses are excellent for keeping lager or cider cold. However, I'm not that impressed with the shorter glasses that I tried using for hot coffee, and which didn't really retain the heat. I suppose that's not surprising, since they are open-topped and heat rises. My recommendation is to buy the tall Assam for cold drinks and ignore the rest.

Way too fragile
Despite being well packaged one of the glasses was cracked on arrival.I thought I'd try and make myself a drink in the other one and whilst it does look very nice I don't think these are meant to be used daily. I was so scared that I'd break it by just holding it, I wouldn't risk putting it in the dishwasher even though they say they're dishwasher safe. For £15 I expected a lot more.
