Product Description From acclaimed musician and filmmaker Rob Zombie (THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES) comes an entirely new take on the highly successful and terrifying Halloween legacy that began in 1978. While revealing a new chapter in the established Michael Myers saga, the film will surprise both classic and modern horror fans with a departure from prior films in the Halloween franchise. Audiences should brace themselves for unprecedented fear as Zombie turns back time to uncover the making of a pathologically disturbed, even cursed child named Michael Myers. Written and directed by Rob Zombie, The Weinstein Company opens Halloween on over 2000 screens on August 31st. .com The largely unsurprising soundtrack to Rob Zombie's "re-imagining" of John Carpenter's genre-defining Halloween rests on two major building blocks: snippets of dialogue from the new movie and classic 1970s rock track. Nothing surprising among the latter, which includes arena-rock classics such as Blue Oyster Cults "Don't Fear the Reaper, " Alice Cooper's "Only Women Bleed," and Kiss's "God of Thunder." The songs still sound great, of course; whether you need to hear them yet again is another matter. Too bad there aren't more left-field picks like the Misfits' "Halloween II" and Nan Vernon's new sweet/spooky cover of "Mr. Sandman." Good mood-setting interstitials are provided by brief lines delivered by the film's stars, such as Malcolm McDowell (in the Donald Pleasance role) and Scout Taylor-Compton (in the Jamie Lee Curtis role). There are only two cues from Tyler Bates' score. One is an update of the original movie's famously minimalist theme (penned by Carpenter himself); the other, "The Shape Stalks Laurie," is understated but very efficient, at times using dense sonic textures that verge on industrial. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Good soundtrack for the movie
This soundtrack contains a lot of metal and rock music. I'm not a big fan of metal or rock music, but there are a few songs I like on this soundtrack. Similar to the soundtrack for Rob Zombie's Halloween II, there are sound/audio clips from the movie, songs, and two tracks from the score. My favorite tracks on this soundtrack are the score pieces Halloween 2007 and The Shape Stalks Laurie by Tyler Bates, the Halloween theme used in the movie and Michael Myers stalking Laurie in the movie. Some songs I like include (Don't Fear) The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult and God of Thunder by Kiss. The sound/audio clips are taken straight from the movie but I do like "These are the Eyes" from Dr. Loomis, "Was that the Boogieman?", and "The Scream", both from Laurie Strode.Overall, I am a huge fan of Rob Zombie's Halloween, and I recommend picking this CD up if you like the movie and the music. I'm not a fan of metal or rock music, but I can enjoy the songs featured here.

The film took away the scare
I was really geared up to see the film in the theater after getting the soundtrack a few days before since my mind was forming all these bloody scenes to the songs, but I was to be dissapointed. All these songs are just jokes in the film--the first few were sly and funny, but Rob overused them which made this huge separation between the film being psychologically scary and another run-o-the-mill horror remake.I could see where he was trying to go with it,but that kind of humor/horror relationship has to be executed SO damn precisely to work, and it seems like where he hit with Devil's Rejects he missed with Halloween.Tyler Bates' rehashing of the original theme was mind-blowing though--hearing the sample of it on Rob's Myspace was what made me order it from here to begin with(and let me down the most when the imagery didn't mirror the theme's terror.)

Pleasantly Surprised
Like some others I was not interested in a remake of the great HALLOWEEN. It came on cable one night and I thought, oh I might as well. I LOVED this movie. Giving MM a back story (and a good one at that) was fantastic. Except for some weak acting, the movie was a great way to return the scares to MM and Halloween. I'm not sure what I expected the music to be but was thrilled to hear oldies along with some new things. Songs that fit the scene or atmosphere and R.Zombie was on the mark in keeping the main title music the same except with some minor tweeking. The off key piano just makes the music even creepier. I collect soundtracks and this is one I am proud to add to my collection.

EVIL HAS A DESTINY! Awesume soundtrack.
Rob Zombie unleashed an extreme vision of terror and a legend that is Michael Myers and he just did that with the soundtrack with amazing artist icluding KISS, Peter Frampton, Blue Oyster Cult, Nazareth and heaps more. One great song after another including dialogues from the movie and of course, two amazing John Carpenter themes that was composed by the extrodinary Tyler Bates 'The Halloween Theme' and 'The Shape Stalks Laurie.I just wish they could've added more Tyler Bates music in there. The movie rocks, the soundtrack rocks, the music rock, i highly recommend it to those who loved Rob Zombie's version of Halloween including the original.5 stars.

You may love it, or hate it...
If you are looking for all the music that has been made famous in the 1978 "Halloween"(and the many sequels), then this CD may not be for you. The famous 'Main' theme is here, and so is a lesser known (Except by hardcore fans) theme, "The Shape Stalks Laurie". But other bits of music that came from the 1978 film are missing. However, most, if not all of the Rock songs in the film are here. In that regard, it is a strong Sound Track. "Don't Fear the Reaper" (which was in the 1978 film, when Annie and Laurie are driving to their baby-sitting gigs.)is here, and it's neat to see it in the new film, and on the Sound Track. Rob Zombie has also included many bits of dialogue from the film. Be WARNED!!! Much of this is rated 'R'!!!!!!!!!! But is good to hear Dr. Loomis and Laurie Strode speak lines that are almost word for word from the 1978 film. I could have done without the cussing, but I did enjoy this CD.

Trick or treat
I bought this cd so I can play appropriate music while trying to freak out my neighbors. It worked. I'm currently residing in a sanitarium, being expertly cared for by Dr. D. Mento
