so useful and so fun
This is an amazing melon baller! I received it on time, and it's been very useful to me. Humming Bird also followed up on my delivery with a very personal email asking if their product had met my satisfaction, and it did. I love making edible arrangements for fun, and the addition of the melon baller has made it much easier for me to cut up my fruits in the way I want. I love my melon baller!

Melon baller became detached from larger handle, would rotate, making it unusable.
The Melon baller scooper became detached/unglued inside the handle the first time I was using it. As a result, when I tried to use it, the scooper would rotate, making the melon baller unusable. I don't know if it's glue, or how the scooper is attached to the larger handle, but the quality was poor on the one i tried using.

Good product
Worked great and everybody loved how well the end product turned out. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because when making the balls my hand would slip up towards the other end of the baller and rub against the edges, thus hurting my hand. Not a huge deal as I would just reposition my hand or place a cloth over the othe other end to avoid the rubbing. All in all it does what it's supposed to at a great price.

NOT MADE IN THE USA
This little USA Pride gadget works okay. It does what it says. But it feels cheaply made in my hand, though, as if something is loose... and I found out why when I looked at the box it came in. I bought this because it said USA PRIDE. I thought since it said USA PRIDE, it would be made in the USA. Not Antarctica. Not Timbuktu. On the box, it indicates it's made in CHINA.Are you kidding me??That's all I've got to say. I'm very disappointed, and it's possible it says in the description that it's made in China...but I didn't see it anywhere. I looked a couple of times. Maybe they'll add it in in the description. It SHOULD be stated clearly that it is made somewhere other than the USA.

Nearly perfect
Each end works great, BUT the cutting edge scrapes on my wrist while I'm using the baller end. If it was simply turned the other way it would be perfect.

Another Fun Ktchen Tool!
I found this tool while browsing kitchen gadgets. I've since discovered that a zucchini corer, that will do the same job more efficiently, exists and have ordered one. In the meantime, I've use this tool to hollow out eggplant and summer squash in preparation for stuffing. Instead of the "boat" that we Americans use, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine hollow out vegetables for stuffing. As you can see from my photos, this tool works fine for that purpose.A plug for a great cookbook from a cuisine that is going extinct: "Aromas of Aleppo: The Legendary Cuisine of Syrian Jews" by Poopa Dweck. I looked for recipes on line, and bought the cookbook when I didn't find them. When a Mizrahi friend recommended it to me, he said "They stuff everything!" Which is pretty much true.

Great melon baller!
My melon baller was packaged impeccably. It arrived earlier than expected and in perfect condition. It seems so much sturdier than others i've had in the past, I can't wait to use it!!!

When you use the melon baller side, the sharp ...
When you use the melon baller side, the sharp side pokes into your hand/arm. I got sick of this and twisted the melon baller scoop to face the other direction so I'd stop almost cutting myself. That solved the problem for a while, but then is was loose and would twist around when I tried to use it. I ultimately threw it out and got a regular melon baller instead.
