Good number of high quality quilts.
What can I say? I know nothing about quilting. But one of my sister-in-law‘s is a quilting queen but she did not have this book which contained ideas and quilts. She had never heard of previously so she’s really happy with this book. If the book made her happy, then it’s a winner and my mind.

Wonderful history of quilts in Virginia
This is a beautiful book, very well researched, that presents the quilts of Virginia along with the history surrounding the quiltmakers. Virginia was the home of so many early political and prominent figures in American History. In these pages you will find many familiar figures from Martha Washington to Willa Cather, but not only the famous and their quilts are highlighted. Reading the stories behind these quilts, one experiences a true connection to the times in which the quiltmakers lived. The book documents over 270 quilts made before 1900, all of which are beautifully photographed. The information is presented regionally and includes a partial listing of museums and facilities where the quilts can be seen in person. Of all the books of this kind which document the quilts of our ancestors, this is by far the best I have seen. This is a book to treasure.

Lots of Colonial quilts to see, good priced book.
If you are looking for a book, at a modest price, with old quilt designs to inspire you or early American patterns to recreate, this is it. Other State's documentation books of quilts (New Jersey and Massachusetts) are twice the cost for a used book. Plenty of photos and history.

This was a gift for my mother, an avid quilter and she really seemed to enjoy the book. It even came with some patterns.

A Very Interesting Book for Proud Virginians
This book that I purchased from Amazon has impressed me so much. It is a well written and illustrated book that shows a history of the state through quilting. The pictures show how and why we are proud of our past and our heritage. It makes me proud to be a quilter and a Virginian.

Historical visual treat
My wife Sandy says:For anyone interested in quilting and textile arts, this is an exquisite book. Pages of full colour photographs of quilts through the ages, together with examples of exquisite embroidery, this book also recounts the story of the founding of Virginia and its subsequent statehood. Many photographs accompany the historical text, and we can see the people who created the quilts. They have left a legacy for the world to appreciate. While I cannot travel to Virginia to see the quilts for myself, I am pleased to have this book in order to enjoy this work and to learn from the examples.

Quilts of Virgina
Very good, comprehensive book. Some information about the state of Virginia, including map and county names, plus information about well-known persons (not to mention past American Presidents and their wives and families) that came from Virginia. Very comprehensive and interesting catalogue of quilts and other items. I'm glad I bought it. Anyone interesting in quilt history, especially state quilt registration projects, I am sure would love this book.
