This requires 48x as much as Mrs Stewarts so don't be fooled!
I began using Mrs Stewarts Blueing Solution about a year ago and was immediately impressed with how white it made my clothes, and with it only needing 1 teaspoon for a gallon of water an 8oz bottle should yield approx 48 loads of laundry. I then came across this ad for Bluette which although selling for about twice the cost of Ms Stewarts was for 12 bottles totalling 192oz, which had to be a better deal, right? Not necessarily, as the Bluette brand is not nearly as concentrated with the directions calling for 8oz per gallon of water which even with 12 bottles works out to only 24 loads of laundry (you can use more or less but the ratios will be the same requiring 48 times as much Bluette than Mrs Stewarts to get the same result per the directions on each). So while both seem to work as advertised the fact that this cost over twice as much but only yields half as many loads as Ms Stewarts I would recommend going with the latter as it seems to be the better deal comparing apples to apples...

NOT TO BE USED ON SEPTIC SYSTEMS.
I've used this product for years and I really like it. But, should NOT be used in septic systems (my new home has a septic systems). The product lacks this information on the label . The customer service did state that they never tested for use in septic systems, not wanting to cause any issues I returned it and received a full refund. Otherwise, I highly recommend it.

Seems to work in our terrible water
I don't know what the water is like where you live but my water is terrible. There are all sorts of issues with it from high levels of arsenic (left over from the dairy industry 60 years ago) to high levels of sulfur (yummy and pleasant) to some"naturally occurring organic components" that though harmless to consume keep our water a lovely murky yellow/brown. Needless to say we don't drink it but I've also discovered that doing the laundry is another mess. Many of my whites (and some of my colors) will come out of the wash with brown splotches all over them I'm assuming from the "naturally occurring organic matter". I have beaten my brains out trying to find a solution to my problem. The main problem is our town's inability to find a clean well and attach proper pump equipment to it. Bluette at least helps my whites in the wash. Someone told me about "bluing" and I was desperate to try something that didn't involve me toting my whites to a laundromat in another town.Follow the directions on the bottle and you shouldn't have a problem though I have a few suggestions. 1) Dilute your mixture and ad it to the wash bin as it fills with water. 3) Next ad your detergent. 4) Ad your clothes after the tub has filled about half way. Let the wash cycle go. 5) If you also plan on putting it in the rinse cycle (I have to) you'll want to set an alarm so you can come back to ad it then. You'll need to pull the clothes back out of the washer to ad your solution or you run the risk of blue spots on whatever you happen to poor it on. 6) DO NOT AD FABRIC SOFTENER! For some reason the two react and you may end up with dull gray splotches on stuff. I tried it on a load of rag towels to be sure.So extra steps yes but if your water is as bad as mine and you've been fighting with this like I have then this may help you. I have to say I haven't had any brown splotches on my whites so i'm doing something right. I'll probably continue to use this until my town has solved the water issue. Good luck!

Old-fashioned remedy bright whites
They don’t carry this anymore but it works great. You have to soak your clothes in it that are white and it brightens them up beautifully. There is honestly probably nothing that is replacing it right now

Does the job..
My whites were turning yellow. The more bleach the more yellow. I remembered my mother using Bluing that came in a solid form wrapped in a small fabric bag that was thrown into the machine. Well the little bag is no more but this product was delivered and used for the first time last week. A couple of ounces added to the machine as it is filling before adding the whites and NO BLEACH was all that was needed to get the Ts and bedding looking white again. It did little for the deeply yellowed pillow covers But I did not expect them to get white again.

Not what I was expecting.
Not what I was expecting. I have used bluing in the past. It has been a clear blue liquid. This is opaque. It settles at the bottom of the jig and is clumpy. You need to shake it really hard to mix it up.
