Q: I understand 44by36. What does 1” mean?

The Richland Textiles Cotton Broadcloth Quilt Fabric is 44 inches wide and sold by the yard 36 inches. The 1 inches does not apply to this fabric.

Q: i this material good for a tablecloth?

I wouldn't use it for a table cloth because it is so thin. It probably has a lot of sizing in it to give it the body it does have. I used it for curtains for a college dorm room and lined it with a white cotton fabric of similar weight because I wanted an inexpensive fabric that only need to last a couple of years and would not need to be washed. It worked well for that use. If the fabric is not substantial enough to wear, it would not be substantial enough for a table cloth that must be washed from time to time. Hope this is helpful to you.

Q: Is this fabric thick enough to be embroidered?

this is a pretty thin fabric to embroider on. Wil probably work for a limited amount of work.

Q: I am using some old percale sheets I have to make a quilt, how does this fabric compare to percale? Or what would you suggest?

I am sure this fabric would be easier to use, & not as rough. I like it very much.
