3MVinyl Tape 471, 2 in x 36 yd, White, 1 Roll, Paint Alternative for Floor Marking, Social Distancing, Color Coding, Safety Marking

I have used this #471 2in vinyl tape for years and for anything imaginable. The thickness is strong enough to handle most taping jobs MAINLY out in the weather. I have put it on something outside in the fall, and regardless of winters weather, it will peel right off next spring and leave NO tape glue residue. I found the thin vinyl tape you can nearly read through was a bear to get all removed next spring. I find the #471 quite expensive, but the smiles removing it next spring is worth it to me.

Used it to tape off rub rail and bottom paint on boat before using rubbing compound and polish. Works great. Plan to use it before I repaint bottom of boat also

On Mar 1, 2024, I was running out of tape on a job marking temporary lines on a running track and purchased a roll of 3M 471 tape from Amazon. The item I received appears to be an older version of the vinyl tape. It had a cardboard core and may have been manufactured in South America. At $41/roll, I thought I was going to receive a roll of tape made in the U.S.A. with a plastic core like the 3M 471 tape I had been using. The color of the tape from Amazon is yellowish and not as bright when compared to one I had been using. I am reluctant to purchase this tape from Amazon again.

Used this as gap tape to seal gaps on wings of the plane. Did a 150 MPH descent and none pealed off, so far so good. The glider flyers and RV owners seem to swear by (not at) this stuff.

Does not leave any residue when removed.

I returned the item because it was not 3M 471 made in USA Vinyl tape. It was made in Brasil which uses the metric system and I need a full 2 inches. Pictures looks right, but item received was not what was shown in advertising picture. Should have known better because of the low price.

I'm using this tape to cover the top of some wood to prevent water erosion. It sticks good and of good quality. Time will tell if it does the trick. It's also not cheap.

good product to cover surface rust on my car beats doing bodywork and paint and should last longer
