Great book! Unique vertical pages!!!
I love this series. The word choice and the cadence in reading is wonderful.I was pleasantly surprised that 2 of the spreads were designed for the book to be turned vertically! They show a mountain scene, where the train climbs and descends a very tall mountain. In order to show how tall the mountain is, the book was printed to be turned vertically and read that way! This was incredibly creative, and I was surprised to realize that I've never seen another book do this!!I also really love that this book series has small "hidden" stories in the art that progress from page to page. In this book, the last train car is a crib with an infant. While all the older children sleep through the trip, the baby goes from sleeping to waking to sleeping throughout. The final sleeping position of the baby is with its butt in the air!! Its realistic and adorable!! Little things like this make these books that much more special.

This series is the best kids book we have! Please write more books like this June :-)
The media could not be loaded. We love the Goodnight Train stories by June Sobel and the illustrations to boot. The original Goodnight Train and this book are constant bedtime books in our house. I wish this one was available in a board book, but we're managing (June: hint hint - talk to your publishers please). The Original is slightly more catchy on the first read, but this has a whole story and a couple twists and turns built in that make it an instant favorite for it's own reasons. I was thinking this would be a rehash of the second, but the author kept the idea fresh while having the same train and illustrations that we've grown to love. We've bought this for another family as a gift too. It is enjoyed by 6 month old all the way to three years old and beyond. And as a middle aged parent, I can say I like reading the book over and over. And that's good, because our 13 month old finishes the book, turns it over, and wants us to read it all over again and again. Our whole family is waiting in eager anticipation for the next book in the series :-)

SHORT, SWEET, AND COLORFUL
Colorful, clever illustrations accompany this very cute story about little ones taking the night train to dreamland. Reminders of the magic of childhood. I enjoyed it!! 🥰

Good quality and a fun read!
The little one loves the colors and the illustrations. The story is great too. It's a hard cover and the quality is great. It's a strong and sturdy book so should last and survive all the drops and spills that happen with little ones.

Cute book, not our favorite but has beautiful artwork and a cute plot.
Cute book but awkward to read. The words don’t flow and halfway through the book you turn it to read about the train going up and down the hill which is cute but awkward when reading to a toddler that wants to hold the book and flip pages with you. Beautiful artwork and the story is cute but I probably wouldn’t purchase again.

3 Stars that grew into a 5
Like many other reviews, this second book just wasn't as good as the first book. At first, I really struggled with the rhythm/flow of the verses. It just didn't roll off the tongue as well.But. My toddler loves this book as much if not more than the first one. I got this when she was 2 and she's almost 3 now. I've read this hundreds of times and found a cadence that works. My toddler has memorized each page and re-enacts scenes from it. It's mainly all the little details in the illustration. The continuity of the lil naughty sheep was an unexpected delight (who makes an appearance in the Santa book!), that we didn't even realize until many many reads in.I may find this one a 3 star, but my daughter certainly would rate this 8 stars (her fave number)

Perfect book
The book came perfectly as described. My kids loved the first book so we decided to get the second as well.

One of our top 5 favorite books for storytime with our 18 month-old grandson
Our grandson has an extensive shelf of board books and this one ALWAYS makes the top 5 when he brings me a pile of books to read to him. He loves trains, but the engaging storyline and SOUNDS (chugga-chugga-shhh-shhh) elicit little squeals of delight whenever they appear. He likes to point at the drawings so I will say what they are - the giant teddy bear, the sleepy little boy that looks like him, and the sheep! So well-written, artistically drawn, and presented for little ones. We have since bought the other books in the series after receiving this with our Amazon Prime Books selection.

Good
Cute story. Fun to read. Interesting illustrations. I like it but it’s not as good as “The Goodnight Train”, but can’t really complain. Kid loves it too.
