They don't write them like this anymore ... thank god!
I was anticipating a sophisticated romantic comedy, witty dialogue and crackling chemistry between the two leads. Wrong on all counts. As many reviewers have pointed out, this film has not aged well. If you can get past the casual adultery (neither party ever seems to consider the hurtful nature of their deceptions, George Segal's character is married with two children, Glenda has two children who we see in the opening scene and never again), there are other problematic and annoying things to consider: a gratuitous gay friend for Glenda, Paul Sorvino pretending to be Jewish and dropping Yiddishisms, a really offensive rape joke. The film is loaded with unfunny comedy tropes (that would be at home in the sitcom, "That Girl") along with other contrived and implausible situations. But the biggest disappointment is the lack of any palpable chemistry — sexual or romantic — between Segal and Jackson. Segal's character is insufferable and overbearing, Glenda is statuesque and cooly beguiling, but comes across as soulless and asexual. it's like Segal is bedding a statue. The London and Spain locations must have added glamorous appeal to American audiences used to Marcus Welby, MD and Room 222, but there is nothing worldly or terribly continental here. Best to avoid.

Still great!
I loved this movie when it first came out and I was wondering if it would hold up over time. Well I’m happy to say that for me it did. I enjoyed the great acting and dialogue just as much as I did the first time.

Touch Of Class Is a Real Romance
A romantic comedy made before romantic comedies had all become When Harry Met Sally or Sleepless in Seattle wannabees, starring the totally underappreciated George Segal and the totally captivating Glenda Jackson. I saw this movie as a kid a few times but hadnt seen it in years. Holds up great, its a touch formulaic but only a touch and not nearly as touching as their love affair. Points out the dangers of sightseeing and lovemaking at the same time ... especially if you have a bad back. I have a bad back so I am gonna be especially careful about my sightseeing FROM NOW ON.

Film has not aged very well
I was in my late 20's in 1973 when I first saw this film on its original theatrical release and thought it was a very clever, fairly sharp, entertaining romantic comedy. Watching it again now--47 years, three marriages, two divorces, several affairs and one child later I realize what an almost total fantasy the movie is. For one thing, after the opening scene we never see Glenda Jackson's two kids again. Who is taking care of her kids during the week she and Segal are in Spain? Who is watching them on all those days and nights she and Segal are shacked up in their little London apartment? For Segal there is no sense of guilt, no consequences--just the admittedly comical logistics of finding excuses to absent himself from his family in order to spend time with Jackson. Always enjoy seeing vintage Glenda Jackson in practically anything (including this film) and Segal is well cast as her self absorbed, initially insufferable lover but overall I'm afraid the movie has not aged very well (or maybe, as some might think, I am the one who has not aged very well).

The Way Films Used To Be
This film has so much warmth and humor that I could (and have) seen it many times. Glenda Jackson won the best actress award for her ability to be both dramatic and hilarious. Boy, those two ( George Segal as her co) just ooze with charisma and charm. While there is a touching message at the conclusion, getting there was so much fun. From the gorgeous scenes of London to spectacular, to sunny Spain, this film is true entertainment. I wish there were more adult films like this being made today.

Falsche Produktinfo

Disappointing quality
When played through my Samsung Blu-Ray player (which usually renders 'ordinary' DVDs very well), the picture occupied only half the screen area and was not of great quality. By adjusting the picture size on my TV I got it to fill most of the screen but despite my best efforts, the picture remained too contrasty and lacking in detail. Whilst the film is perfectly viewable, the overall definition is rather disappointing.
