Grill Care 17436 Stainless Steel Grid Compatible with Weber Charcoal Grills, 22.5-Inch

I ordered an open box and received the grate with one of the metal rods broken but nothing that some metal wire couldn't fix. I needed it the day it arrived so no time to hassle with returning it. Great deal for a grate that allows you to add additional charcoal while smoking without having to hassle with removing the meat or dropping the coals in the handle holes. would have been 5 stars if it hadn't arrived broken. Unlikely that if it makes it through shipping it would break during normal grilling.

I am still using a 22.5" SS cooking grate (from Weber) - for over 5 years - no rust. But Weber doesn't sell them any longer. Magnets are not attracted to my older grate, but they are to this version, as earlier reviews have stated.I was lucky, I guess, that mine arrived intact, given that the Amazon packaging was not nearly as good as usual. Whether this version remains "stainless" for any length of time remains to be seen

This in my second replacement for my Weber 22.5 kettle grill. Not knowing the difference, the first was made of less expensive plated vs stainless steel. It did not last long before rust started to show and it became hard to clean. I feel sure that this stainless steel material will last many years as did the original.

I ALWAYS read the reviews. In this case though, I didn't because I somehow thought I was ordering a replacement part made by Weber.I work on restaurant equipment for a living. I know the advantages of stainless steel. A broiler at a high-end steakhouse I service has top quality stainless grates in it. Solid as a rock. I wasn't expecting anything close to something rivaling theirs, but I expected some quality product for the money I spent for this one..FIRST -As another reviewer stated, a weld on one of the handles is broken. Right out of the shipping box.SECOND -This grate is made of a stainless alloy instead of high quality stainless steel. I checked that too when I got it. A magnet stuck right to it. A magnet WILL NOT stick to most stainless steel I work with. This alloy is a much softer grade of stainless and I don't expect it will hold up well.THIRD -The gauge of metal it's made of is much smaller than the old grate on my twenty-year-old Weber Performer. Again, I don't expect that it would hold up very well.CONCLUSION -I haven't used it and I don't planned to. It was damaged goods when I received it and is obviously a substandard product. I'll be looking into returning it here shortly.

TOTAL JUNK. Looks like it was assembled by 3 first graders with a bottle of glue. Three of the weld points broke loose. Side view looks like high tide in Hawaii. Five stars to Amazon for order processing and shipping, no stars for product.

Great replacement for the chrome grate. This is Stainless steel it's a little heavier and I am sure it will last longer.

A grill is a grill. This is a good grill and the flaps can keep the BBQ going without much risk of burning yourself.

Much Needed. The stock Webber grate rusted away in just one season. This Stainless steel grate has held up wonderfully. The doors on the side are very nice to add coals or wood for log cooks.
