Exceptional quality and feel. As good as the original as it gets!
I've got an original SNES usb controller that I bought from Infinite Nes Lives for 50 bucks. The quality of that controller is flawless but the price tag was tough to swallow.I wanted a 2nd SNES pad for 2 player action but just couldn't bring myself to pay another 50 dollars so I did some research and discovered the buffalo brand has quite a following from new and old gamers alike. For the price, I couldn't say no and decided to get one.I'm happy to report that it performs flawlessly and feels great. Side by side comparisons vs the original Japan controller (as most likely noted by numerous reviewers here) are that the buffalo controller is slightly lighter, slightly thinner and vs the original famicom pad, the dpad is slightly elevated on the buffalo controller. The differences are marginal and the only REAL noticable difference to my seasoned retro gaming hands is the lighter weight of the buffalo controller. I have ordered a roll of lead tape and will weigh out a strip of that and apply it onto the inside wall of the back half of the controller shell to match the weight of the original controller. Other than that minor nit-picking there is very little to complain about. If I had to change anything, it'd be to have the turbo buttons moved further up towards the top of the game pad. It's easy to accidentally press them instead of start/select. I don't actually use them so I may end up just removing the buttons all together.I've attached numerous photos comparing the weight of the 2 game pads and thickness at various parts of the controller.Bottom line is that if you want a near 100% authentic replica of the original super famicom game pad, look no further. Yes there are minor differences but the price gap between a real one and this one is FAR beyond the point of diminishing returns in my opinion unless you're a collector, which in that case, you most likely already have one or more of the original game pads anyways.

Great controller!
Update: I've noticed that sometimes the 'd-pad' will stick after you press it. Also, a couple of times a button press has registered even though no button was being pressed. Still works really well all in all. This is a first impression, since I just used it for the first time on my 2008 MacBook running OS X El Capitan and SNES9x version 1.5.2 (I'm sure this is an old version but I never bothered updating). Also edit: I originally said this was made in Japan (due to the box) but just noticed that the sticker on the back of the controller says made in China. Just wanted to clear that up...You can tell immediately that this is a well-made device. The USB connector is solid, the cable is good, the controller feels and looks well made...It's been quite a while since I handled a real SNES controller, so I can't say how perfectly the Buffalo controller matches the feel of the original (obviously this one doesn't have the 2 concave, 2 convex XYAB button scheme of the US version) but it seems pretty SNES-like and sturdy. I tried it out using SNES9x and Super Castlevania 4 and was so pleased I thought I needed to go ahead and write a preliminary review. If it can handle that game, I'd say it can handle anything else I'll be using it for.I was concerned that the directional arrow buttons would have problems, but they work fine and the other buttons too. Also, just a note about SNES9x for Mac to maybe save you some confusion. Maybe you won't have this problem, but the controller didn't just work when I plugged it in the first time. The computer registered the controller, but it didn't do anything in SNES9x. It might seem like it should be ready to go, but what I had to do was go to "Config" on the main menu bar, then "Configure controllers..." Then you have to use your mouse/trackpad to select each button on the diagram and then press the corresponding button on the controller. So as an example, you put the cursor on the "up arrow" in the diagram for "Player 1." Click it, and it will change color. You have a few seconds to press the up arrow on the controller, and you will see it respond on the diagram. Then you go to left arrow, right arrow, down arrow, x, y, a, b, etc and repeat for each. Then it worked.

As close as you're going to get!
This controller is fantastic! It's as close as you're going to get to an SNES controller without buying an adapter and simply using your real SNES controller on your PC. Build quality is above average. It does feel a little lighter than an original SNES controller, but this isn't really a bad thing. All of the buttons respond right when you press them. The D-Pad is fantastic. It's just as good as the original, in my opinion. Funny enough, this D-Pad is worlds better than the XBox360 controller's D-Pad. And that is pretty sad that Microsoft just couldn't figure out how to implement a decent D-Pad when this $10 controller manages to get it right. Aside from the controller feeling a little lighter, this thing feels perfect. Honestly, after 10 minutes of playing, I couldn't even really tell it was an aftermarket controller. I've tested this thing out for a few hours, trying every type of SNES game you can imagine. Obviously, I can't comment on the longevity of the controller. I'll have to edit my review down the road if any issues arise, but I can't see that happening. I simply can't find anything wrong with this thing. The turbo function seems to work fine, although, I've had no real reason to use it yet.I will probably be ordering another one of these soon for two player games, but I wanted to buy one to start out and test it. I'm completely satisfied. I was going to get some USB Genesis controllers as well, but now, I think I'll just use this controller for my Genesis emulators. Why bother with a Genesis controller when you can map the buttons however you like on this one anyway!I grew up with the NES and SNES and believe me, i'd be critical of this thing if there were any glaring flaws and I simply cannot find any. I haven't tried out any other SNES USB controllers so I have nothing compare this one to, but this one is phenomenal! Highly recommended!

Great stuff - feels like the original!
TL;DR I've had this controller for over a week, and I am very happy with it. Feels solid in the hands, in every aspect is like playing with the classic Super NES one, and has been detected and configured hassle-free.We had a Super Nintendo back in the days. My brother and I played countless hours with its controllers, and as everybody who plays videogames knows, soon you don't need to think and the fingers seem to move on their own will. A month ago, visiting our parents, we setup the Super Nintendo and played again: all these memories came back immediately, and with them, the skill with the controllers!I bought the Buffalo Gamepad when I came back to my place, and I have been playing with it for about week. It looks like the classic one (with the exception of the two extra buttons on top of select + start), feels like the classic one, and reacts like the classic one! I am playing with a Raspberry Pi to the games of my childhood, and it almost feels the same!

Surpassed expectations
Really pleasantly surprised by the quality of this controller. A lot of the USB reproduction SNES controllers are very low quality. This one isn't quite up to the standard of the original SNES pad, but it comes close, and certainly doesn't feel like it's in danger of breaking any time soon. Some details:-Rubber Start and Select buttons... very nice-Convex Y and X buttons... different, but didn't bother me-DPad seems accurate and responsive, but the edges are a little sharp.-Printing seems to be water soluble. Select and Start labels already smearing off.-Cable is a little bit thinner, a little stiffer and a little harder than than the original. Don't think that matters much.-Very slightly lighter weight than the original SNES pad, though weightier than I've come to expect for 3rd party repros.-Plastic has more of a yellow cast than the original SNES pad, and is noticeably more yellow than the picture on the listing. Didn't bother me, but it might bother you.All in all, far better than I expected. Very usable, seems reasonably durable, great value.

Almost as good as original
This controller feels great, almost as good as the original SNES controller. Setup in windows was easy, pretty much plug & play.Turbo function is nice, and doesn't get in the way if you don't want to use it. D pad is great, much nicer than xb1/ps4 controllers. The D pad does feel slightly more "clicky" than my old SNES controller, I prefer the mushiness of old. Played through Cuphead with this and worked great, did got slight blister on my thumb (however blister I got from Dreamcast D-pad was way worse)Too bad so many new games nowadays force me to use x360/xb1 controllers. If possible I still use joytokey and this over anything else.

Great SNES-style pad, excellent quality and super-fast delivery
Firstly i have to say i was very impressed with the delivery time on this item - i ordered it thinking it was UK, but then saw the delivery was from japan, and was quoted 5 weeks! Despite ordering on 30th December it actually turned on on the 5th January, absolutely fantastic considering it was over New Year!Anyway, now to the product - i got this to use with emulators on my Mac as i was having a hard time using a PS3 Sixasis pad - it worked but wasn't great so thought i would go old-skool and relive my SNES days...The pad came well packaged and i just plugged it straight into a spare USB, no drivers or messing needed and straightaway I was playing games on SDLMame, getting my best recent score on Parodius da and GORF! Just what I wanted, and very pleasantly surprised considering the price and free postage! The d-pad is precise and smooth, and the buttons are precise - basically it is as close as you can get to an original SNES pad...Definitely recommended
