Excellent bushcraft tools!
Bought as gift for my friend who immediately tried it out upon delivery. My friend called me while trying out the flint and steel, utilizing the included tinder and had prompt success creating fire. The burning lens also did its job well, and the kit is now a permanent part of his bushcraft tools. He was very pleased with the overall construction and quality and would certainly recommend to others interested in a time tested and proven set of fire making tools.

Very compact with everything you need to make fire. Striker & flint are good quality.Brass case is thin metal and may warp/bend easily when separated, but still an attractivecase and a good value. I would recommend this product.

Light my fire
Arrived quickly and packaged nicely. The container was a little different than pictured but still nice. Some may think it's a bit pricey but that's what one would expect from a unique item that is well made and a conversation piece as well. Oh.....and it works! If you're trying to keep the weight down in a bug out bag though ....hummmmm.... this might require a second thought as there are lighter options out there but not as interesting as this.

Historically correct!!
There is nothing that I do not like about this kit. I like gadgets and this is an historical gadget. Very high quality. However if I was a mountain man I would be an ice cube because I cannot get sparks to fly to start a fire. In short I am glad that I bought it!

pretty good but pricey
The striker and flint work. Im no geologist and naturally occuring flint is rare in my area so i cant say much there. My jusgement is compared to a glass like rock i found. Seems effective (first time using a rock and its awesome). The brass tin is nice. The lids fit snug. My complaints are the price and the freebees. While im new to flint and steel, I'm no stranger to charcloth. The charcloth in this tin is thick, very brittle and almost fuzzy where you rip it. It doesn't catch a spark as well as my personal cloth. The tinder cordage is not very great. Feather it into a nest and drop an ember in there and its hard to bring to life. Touch it with a lighterand it goes up faster than gasoline but within seconds its burned up and the flames dieing. I recommend replacing the consumables.
