Nothing wrong with this, it's a handy EDC pocket knife.
I'm like many other reviewers on here - I have more than one knife because there is more than one job that requires a specific tool.I took my time by looking at a number of potential options because I wanted a not too chunky, general purpose, useful but solid every day carry pocket knife for a not unreasonable few quid - literally to slip in my pocket, preferably with a clip to hold onto my pocket or belt, with the intention to use it for everyday "stuff". I found the Gerber Straightlace in green with an interesting take on the sheepsfoot blade that for me makes it even more flexible thant the traditional type. It's a much lighter metallic green than in the picture, but this is actually much nicer and quite "blokey". I do agree with other reviewers that the stark red/white/red plastic detail on the bloster just below the pivot to be oddly rough and out of kilter with the quality and feel of the rest of the knife. The thumb nick for opening the blade is more in the style of a fuller in that it runs the length of the top of the blade, but only on one side. The action is very positive and smooth, with a solid but unobtrusive click in the halfway position and a slightly louder click when fully open, but nicely without being metallic and "tinny". This is deeply satisfying and something that most knife owners try out and listen for in the first 5 seconds of picking up and opening a knife for the first time. The spring action is firm and again feels solid and positive without being either overly strong and difficult to manage or too weak to hold the blade closed safely. The knife can be dis-assembled for when it gets too fuill of pocket lint, biscuit crumbs, wood shavings, bits of plastic, leftover food particles, wire strands and so on. I think this might allow one previous reviewer to also take some of the harshness out of the pocket clip strength, although again I've not found this to be too much of a problem. Possibly because I'm in comfy, lighter material summer shorts and not thick winter gear...There is a small curved choil at the base of the ricasso that allows for a thumb to sit and provide additional support when the knife is inverted for cutting upwards and you're trying to retain all of your appendages, eyes, noses etc. This feels very natural and comfortable to use. The handle is flat, making the knife feel perhaps more delicate than some had anticipated, but no less firm and capable for all that. Ther's also a lanyard hole next to the pocket clip, which also may solve the clip problem for some with the appropriate ring/chain/paracord/carbiner combo to funky it up a tad.The belly of the blade, being slightly curved, facilitates additional capability in use and the edge out of the box was good enough for most tasks - let's be real, I'm definitely not using it to perform surgery, here. I've been using it every day for the last couple of weeks and it's been exactly what I needed. I've cut paper, string, cardboard, plastics of various type and also plastic coated wire and the odd apple plus some wood to make a filler for a screw hole or two. The blade sharpening was machined as a 'V' and I managed to put a couple of dings in there as it's an imperfectly finished edge - at this price it's pretty good and definitely not absolutely awful. A couple of goes on my sharpal (I haven't even gone to the trouble of oilstone/strop yet) and I'm back to being at a good enough place to use for the aforementioned "stuff". Will I sharpen it further? Probably, and then I'll have to polish it to get the overenthusiastic scratches on the blade buffed out and that will mean dis-assembly and a full clean and maybe do something about the red and white plastic and then do I re-paint the handle becasue it's got a bit scratched...So yes, this is a good little knife to have in your pocket when you don't need a multi-tool, swiss army knife, Britsh Army/Navy issue pocket knife or some other particular thing that does "special stuff". I'd say if you got yourself one of these, you'd quite like it and enjoy using it. Mine was £25, but I've seen others get it for a little bit less - I suspect that as of summer of 2022 you'd be hard pressed to do much better given the epic rise in the cost of everything.Of course, if anything changes, I'll update my review.

Solid and sexy lil' knife!
One or two reviews getting a bit fussy and they're wrong. Arrived with a couple of tiny paint scuffs but, it's gonna be a working knife. I was more interested in build and mechanism. Both are brilliant. Knife feels good, well balanced in the hand. Opening/closing mechanism is solid, like you'd expect from a knife 3x the price. Blade is as sharp as you'd expect, straight from the factory - will sort that soon as. Finish detail is tidy, contrary to a couple of prissy reviews. Importantly for me, clip on the back is strong, so I can affix to my fishing bag with confidence. Have a few Gerbers, for very different jobs. All good stuff. Recommended.

Sturdy EDC.
I had seen this knife many times while browsing amazon and the design caught my eye. I always assumed this to be locking but learning it was slipjoint swayed me to purchase it. I have a couple of the China made Gerbers and they have been pretty decent and inexpensive. The straightlace is no exception and overall the build quality is decent enough in the hand and makes for a very pleasant daily carry knife. The style of the knife gives it the gentleman's folder appearance, and is not going to scare people if you were to pull this from your pocket to cut open a package or cut some string for example. The 7cr blade steel is comparable to what you would find on a victorinox Swiss army knife. It's not going to keep its cutting edge for a very long time with regular use but if your able to maintain your knives and sharpen them this is not going to be an issue. My blade came sufficiently sharp from the factory and didn't require anything really doing to it aside from a few passes on my strop which I do with all my new knives anyway. I like the addition of a pocket clip on this knife which I think is a must have for any knife you intend to carry in the pocket. Its a fairly short clip but the retention strength is stiff enough that once its clipped it stays put. The scale colour is not the same as how it appears in the picture I find in real life it appears more gold/bronze/green than the darker green in the advertisement picture. The main thing that let's this knife down is the plastic accent inlays (red/white) these really let down the quality feel of the overall knife they feel like really cheap plastic and are fairly poorly fitted, it would have been much better without them. This however is forgiven because this is a really cheap knife being £22 at the time I picked it up. If your on the market for a inexpensive UK legal carry knife I can recommend this or would make a nice gift for someone.

Waffenrechtskonform!
Gutes Messer zum vernünftigen Preis! Und das beste ist das man das Messer bei sich tragen darf!

Bel coltello classico
Bellissimo coltello pieghevole ottimamente concepito e realizzato.
