Although these filters fit perfectly in my Blueair model 500, are easy to install and less expensive than the true Blueair ones, after about a week they began to make the whole room smell like it had been freshly painted with oil-based paint. After another week, I could smell it in the hallway and several other rooms as well. I have had problems with the actual Blueair replacement filters having an off-smell on occasion, but this was overpowering. The instructions say that you may notice a smell for a short time after installing them, but after several months the smell only got worse. I ended up disposing them.

I decided to purchase these filters because Blueair changed their smoke stop filters and they don't work as well as the ones they made a couple of years ago. I have a Blueair Classic 605 purifier and the smoke stop replacement filters I ordered from Amazon do not let any air through. That's got to be bad for the motor so I've stopped using them. I'm going to go back to the particle filters for now.
