I've trained my share of family pets but I wanted to "up my game" with a new puppy and my 4-year-old dog (who has a lot of impulse control issues). This book gives you step-by-step guidance on training basic obedience (e.g., sit-down-stay) but takes these basic actions to more advanced levels if you're interested in sports, agility, tricks, etc.What I like most about the training steps - besides being very clear - is that the approach makes the training less about obedience (although you will get an obedient dog) and more about fun & games. Just as we know our children learn best through play, so do our dogs.

As a dog instructor and trainer, I give this book an A+ for clarity of instructions on how to teach your dog different tricks, etc. There are photos as well as written instructions included. Book is organized well into different sections. Highly recommend! I plan on requiring it as a text for my private dog training clients.

This is an informative, easy read book. The authors have added an element of fun to training your dog. Everything is broken down step-by-step to assure you and your dog's success in reaching goals. I love the insight they give you in understanding your dog which is key to a succcessful relationship and strong bond with your fur friend.
