Reasonable price to make your door a bit stronger. I put these on all the exterior doors. Maybe 15 minutes each to install.

This really does not add an extra level of security as I had hoped...I purchased also the plate reinforcer for the frame and with both items installed i ended up accidentally locking myself outside while testing after installing onto door and frame... So, first hand (and very ironic) experience giving perspective of an intruder attempting access....I can confirm i was able to use a butter knife in less than 15 minutes from the outside to break into my own home! The effectiveness would only be an increased security if one's door itself has damage or is not reinforced by more sturdy material than just wood-to prevent someone from getting the door knob hardware out/apart..... but combined with the frame plate, it actually seemed to make it easier to pry with knife ! Lol I am returning this item, but the frame plate I am happy with.

This unit is an excellent way to reinforce a deadbolt in a front door application. Helps prevent splintering if someone tries to kick-in the front door. I reinforced the striker side of the deadbolt with the Prime-line E2461 Deadbolt strike plate and 4 x 3-inch screws. In addition, I sank a 1x4-inch pipe behind the deadbolt strike plate, into the door frame - so the deadbolt doesn't depend on the strike plate alone for resistance against a kick assault. The pipe technique is described in a YouTube video entitled, "How to Increase the Stability of a Deadbolt" under the channel "Howcast".If you use the technique described in the video, be aware of two things. 1) The heavy door-frame it speaks of generally only occurs with outside doors. Bedroom doors aren't framed in the same robust way - at least those I dealt with. 2) Before you use a big paddle drill-bit to cut out the hole for the pipe, make sure there aren't any wires running inside there. I didn't run into the problem, but the front porch light switch was on the same side as the deadbolt striker was.

I ordered this for our garage door that leads out back. We wanted to add some security (also purchased another door lock). You have to shave the door a bit along the jam (long edge) and it the door is not the exact correct size, this piece will bulge a little. I tapped it with a rubber mallet and it worked out well.

These are great! I love my Dutch door and these allowed me to keep it.

Depending on the style of hardware, it could be difficult for the non-handyman. I had to punch holes above the large hole to accommodate for the screw shafts since they had separate holes in the doors. I am a sheet metal worker and had access to the correct tools. 18ga stainless shouldn't be drilled by the rookie; it's good way to get a nasty slice. The latch opening may need a little filing depending on existing location or installation. Overall they look good; much better than the damaged door that is under it. Make sure that you measure the distance from center of large hole to the jamb. There are different sizes. About a 20 minute job for the experienced. I did find them cheaper at one of the smaller big box stores.

A must have on residential doors for added security. No matter what deadlock you install you must have one of these. I strongly suggest you choose the taller model with two holes that reinforce both the deadlock and the door lever/knob. I recently upgraded all my home doors with 2 1/4 inch solid wood doors and 22 gauge reinforce steel doors and I have installed one of these on each of my Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, Halsco and Dorex Grade 1 Commercial deadlocks and door lever/knob. When you understand the physics behind a lock you understand you need these. Note : In the installation instructions of one of my Commercial Grade 1 door lever (Halsco I think) they even stipulate that you must install one of these for the lever to achieve Grade 1 security level.
