MonteverdeMedium Gel Ballpoint Refill For Montblanc Gel Ballpoint Pens, 6/Pack, Blue/Black (M433BB)

I come to this product as a long term fountain pen user and wanted to convert a gifted Montblanc Starwalker ballpoint (a capless ballpoint) into a roller ball. I have used the B and M sizes both in blue black. First, I like the blue black color of this ink. Very classy. Second I have used about 24 of these between the two sizes. My first pack of M size laid down a lot of ink and wrote very wet - nice but ink flow was not entirely consistent and sometimes excessive. I handled these with a light hand and like a wet fountain pen on copy paper and I enjoyed the effect even if the ink flow meant a short life in a job where I constantly take paper notes (maybe 3 days). Not being a real rollerball user, I can’t compare this service life to another rollerball. My second pack of M writes like an almost excessively dry fountain pen. Between wet and the dry iteration I preferred the wet. As for B— well that was really wet- a light hand and care was needed like writing with an overly wet fountain pen. On the whole, I am happy this product exists, I will buy more because it gives an otherwise non preferable ballpoint new life on my desk but not because it is perfect. Perhaps I had bad luck or perhaps there is a lot of product variation. As a FP user I am used to rolling with different pen and ink combos and some work and some don’t work as well. On a side note - the ink stains like no other on clothes - if this goes into a breast pocket and there is ink on the tip of the pen it will stain and won’t let go. Not a quibble - I expect permanent ink to stain like no other, just a warning. 4 stars because it is unique and mostly does what is described albeit not perfectly.

I've been using them since they first became available. Go in with your eyes open. These refills-especially broad widths---will not last anywhere near as long as a "paste" ballpoint. And, you may get the occasional dog. However, they do give you the look and feels of a roller... for me, it's worth the cost.

Most of the medium point refills were dry, skipping or wrote for a very short time. Broad point is better but the point is not smooth....

I am a repeat customer of this item. I buy a six pack at a time and always find that one or two of the refills tend to skip with first use. Obviously no QA applied to product prior to sale.

Perfect for my new Montblanc

I was excited about the purchase, but as soon as i started writing it seemed the ink was dried up. Haven't written a full phrase and it was already dry.
