Amy and Moe
Living the life of so many girls, still single in their late 20's, Amy's patents, well really her mom, have been pushing for her to choose a career and settle down like a "normal" young woman. Unfortunately, Amy is good at almost everything she's tried, from nursing to photography, but she still likes working in the local watering hole with her best friend. Her boy friend wants to have "the talk" at dinner, tonight, so she's ready. She's even early to the restaurant, but he's arrived before her. This could be the beginning of the rest of her life--kids, picket fences, anniversary dinners...How exciting can life get? Read and see. This book is full of love, friendship, joys and hard times and you'll love every minute of it. Great fun!

a clean serious novel on a light hearted premiss
The Marriage Pledge seems like it would be a light hearted read with romance, funniness, and lots of sex. There was absolutely no juicy sexy details whatsoever described in the book. I had never read a book by the author Jean Oram so was not familiar with her writing style. Main character Amy marries her best friend because at 30 she is having a life crisis that she will never get married and have children. Her and best friend Moe who religiously flirt hope to have a platonic marriage and manage to buy a house and get married within two weeks despite both being broke. They also didn't bother to discuss how to pay for in vitro and very easily accept they need to have sex and start sleeping together to make the baby. Yet no sex whatsoever is described. Also they both seem like people with no aspiration and goals in life. Moe is content working bartender at a bar; Amy who has gone to nursing school and has an advanced degree keeps quitting in order to work as a waitress in a bar in this podunk town and claims she makes just as much money waitressing. Oh come on! Other serious topics were discussed in detail: not living up to sibling image, not being accepted by people for who you are, broken home, sacrificing to take care of family, growing up, business and happiness balance, loneliness, and loss. So I expected to read this book quickly as a fun read. It was not that. So while the book was OK, I was not wowed and won't be reading further into the series. On another note, the except for the next book and details in this one introduces you to Zach and his story. He comes off as needy and desperate. Not attractive.

Enjoyed!
This was an enjoyable book about Amy and Moe. These two were best friends, but they had been friends with benefits in the past. They make a pledge and when Amy turns they get married. Amy is very unorganized and seems really flighty. She has a hard time sticking to one thing for very long. Moe is a dependable guy. These two are great together. Moe is trying to buy the pub he works at, but things keep going wrong. Amy tells Moe that he needs to step back and look at what is happening objectively and they can figure it out. These two have to learn to trust each other.

For The Young Generation Only
This is a well written book with good characterization and a lot more pluses. For me, though, it was problematic. As a victim of the 60's Sexual Revolution I learned quickly that nonmarital sex springs a lot of very difficult traps, that waiting for "I Do" and remaining monogamous is far, far superior for many reasons. Because of this, the plot in this book was one that left me so sad about the way sexual freedom has destroyed lives that I could not finish. But if you are like most secular young adults today you will probably enjoy this

This story was a WOW what a story with a grand finale.
This was an interesting book, as I read, I kept thinking will they ever realize what they have. How are they not seeing what is right in front of them? But the author made it really interesting and while I was focused on Amy and Moe I missed a lot of clues that were going on in the background. As I finished the book, I finished it with a WOW, what a story. I didn't see a lot of things happening that really was happening and then when the author brought it all together like a grand finale, yes it was WOW what a story.

Awesome
The Marriage Pledge is an awesome addition to the Veils and Vows series. Amy and Moe are so afraid of losing what they have they can't see what they could truly be. There were times I wanted to slap them for being so obstinate. But, as they say, the path to true love never runs smooth. Knowing they have such a solid foundation for their friendship and love, I knew they would figure things out eventually. There are plenty of outside influences to add drama to the story with Moe torn between buying the bar and wondering if he really wants the responsibility. Worrying if he can be a good father or if he will take after his parents. Amy also worries about being a good parent but for different reasons.I highly recommend reading The Marriage Pledge. I urge you to read the entire Veils and Vows series.

A wild and wacky ride to a beautiful HEA
I loved this story, although I had a bit of a struggle getting into it in the beginning. Right from the very get-go you could tell that these two had deep feelings for each other, and much deeper than either of them wanted let on. Amy was a bit of a scatter brain. Okay so she was a major scatter brain, but she had Moe to balance her out and keep her from going over the edge. I loved the mystery, but I confess that I had the culprits figured out the minute the plot started to unfold.Great epilogue that tied everything up quite nicely, too.
