POWERTEC6 Inch Jointer Blades for JET JJ-6CS Jointer, Replacement for 708457K Jointer Knives, Set of 3 (148033)

I bought a used Jet jointer and used it on many, many house remodeling projects. It was not a smooth cutter but I didn’t care. Now I have a new house and wanted to get it really dialed in for woodworking projects.These blades were a great value. Half the price of a sharpening jig, easy to install, align and get back up and running.There are jigs for aligning blades on the market but all a person really needs is a straight edge of some sort and a functioning brain. The jigs are a giant waste of time and money.

The blades were shipped quickly, and arrived packed inside of heavy paper and a plastic sleeve. The installation process was a little difficult, but that really had very little to do with the blades and more to do with the jointer itself. I have only used the new blades for a few projects, but they seem to work exactly as I would expect.

I used these on a Jet JJ-6OS and they fit just like the originals. Obviously, they are a lot less money, so I'll see how they hold up. Out of the package, they were extremely sharp - razor sharp. By the looks of the other reviews, they will probably fit most Jet 6" jointers. I think the "OS" and "CS" just refers to the stand the jointer came with. "OS" for open stand and "CS" for closed stand.

The knives are exactly as described-- better than the stock Jet knives. They were quite sharp but they did, however had a very minor rolled burr on the edge. I was able to take the burr off with just a few flat swipes on my fine flat diamond steel. Done in under a minute. For less than one-third the price of the Jet knives at my local woodworker store and as good or better quality, I would definitely buy these again.Shipping did take about 10 days, so plan for it.

Great value. Bought these and have run about 300 board feet of solid red oak through them and they still look new. Also can’t beat the price. Use it on a jet jointer the ones from jet are a ripoff almost $90 these ones were $17 at the time which was a great price and honestly can’t tell any difference from the OEM ones

These replacement knives fit my Jet jointer perfectly and make a world of difference. They seem to be of quality material, although I haven't used them long enough to see how well they hold up. I would definitely buy these again.

After enduring not so great cuts on my Jet joiner I decided to get another set of blades. Most of the brands I looked at seemed to be a little pricy for three strips of sharpened steel. These blades from Powertec seemed to have good reviews and were fairly priced. If you have not changed your blades yet it does take a little time to set them up properly, but after about a half hour I had them dialed in just right, and wow what a difference. I have been using the blades now for about a month on everything from hard woods to synthetic plastics and they have performed flawlessly. I suppose most new blades will give a nice cut if set up right, but for the price you can not go wrong with this set.

As you can see from the photo, the cutting angle grind is extremely uneven. The knives are different one from another, by a significant amount, and the grind is uneven along the length of each knife. The cutting edges are ground slightly hollow, and the steel is not flat. The sharpness differs along the blade - easily discernible by drawing your fingertips across the cutting edge. The surface finishing is a bit crude. These came to Australia from America, taking several weeks to get here, so the cost and difficulty of returning them is not worth the effort, but I won't be wasting effort installing them in my jointer. I can't recommend them. Very disappointed.

They work great . They're sharp and do a great job on the wood I edge. I wish I would have bought them a long time ago .
