Contagion [DVD] [2011] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC]

Saw this film in the fall of 2011 in a relatively full theater. Inspired by the 2002-2004 SARS outbreak and the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, the film is a well above average Hollywood film. Its take on science and epidemiology is far superior to Outbreak. Contagion anticipates lockdowns, spurious cures, panic buying, family tragedies, and the race to develop an effective vaccine. An ensemble film that doesn’t waste a scene and in the current environment seems eerily accurate on many points.

I show this to my bio students each year—we talk about the concepts of infectious diseases, etc—this movie is great. OfCourse there may be Hollywood hyperbole, but it is well-researched movie that takes most of its cues from the SARS outbreak of 2005 (?). As of this review, it couldn’t be more relevant to use in a life science classroom. It’s great to reflect and compare it current Wuhan coronavirus and SARS in regards to topics like mortality rate, etc.

I ordered this after the international covid pandemic and shutdowns started. I watched it 3 times. Although this movie was made ten years prior, it contains lots of information that applies to our current situation. I learned a lot. Not to mention that it's a good movie - a drama, a disaster film, a horror flick.

When I saw this at the theater on its initial release, I said to friends that this was how the next global pandemic was going to play out. Seems to eerily be coming true with the current Corona virus. Great and very frightening film! Well acted and engrossing. I highly recommend the movie.

I liked how this movie really makes you think about how viruses are transmitted. IF you aren't washing your hands often, this movie will get you motivated. Liked the celebrities who starred in this movie, as well.

Double DVD Contagion/Breakout. Have watched Contagion, not impressed, have heard that Breakout is much better.Was very interesting to watch Contagion at this time, all the terminology we have heard so much about is on it - so, our current situation has all been totally predicted including coming from China! Only difference is that the virus in the film is much more lethal .....

Great value Virus Scare movies. If you saw and enjoyed World War Z last year then you'll love these end of the earth from virus films. Terrific oscar winning actors in both films. Great value.
