Great Basic Book on Audit. And Risk Management. And Business Principles.
Charles Hall has done it again - written a clear, concise guide to his profession. This is full of reminders to the experienced audit/finance professional, but I think the best use of this is for beginning audit staff members or non-audit managers and coordinators who want to understand what audits are all about. For those in a hurry, Hall provides a quick summary at the end of each chapter, listing the points he has explained more in depth. Read this book and you'll understand auditing - from both "why?" and the "how?" perspectives.

Auditing explained in plain English
Charles Hall is great in explaining complex auditing and accounting standards in plain English so you can determine what is important in conducting an audit. This book provides many very helpful ideas on how to audit in the most effective and efficient manner possible. His writing style is easy to read and even fun and interesting. Highly recommend !!

Good Book, but shorter than expected
Will use it for auditing class as a guide, but not a textbook, more for quick info.

I've already used the book on an audit
A colleague and I were doing risk assessment / brainstorming last week for the audit of a private foundation. Investments are the biggest asset. We were getting bogged down a little in evaluating controls, and I thought - let's see what The Why and How of Auditing has to say about Investments. We went over that chapter together, and it got us unstuck and we came up with a couple of good control suggestions and a good audit plan.

Recommended for all levels of audit experience
Mr. Hall has a way of breaking down the Audit Process into easy digestible parts. Also contains useful incites into working with smaller, less sophisticated clients. Some humor as well.

A great communicator!
I just bought Charles Hall's new book "The Why and How of Auditing: Auditing Made Easy". Charles is the most articulate author I've read in this field; I've read two of his earlier books. He uses words in a way that makes sure that his subject is understood and important distinctions are draw in the mind of the reader. That's quite a feat in this subject matter.

Easy to follow and pulls it all together.
Easy to follow and understand. I have been a CPA for along time but new to audit. This book really pulled it together. I recommended to someone new in her career and she raved about it.
