After seeing “Come From Away” in Toronto last spring, I pre-ordered the book on Amazon and received it on the official publication date. I spent the next two days devouring it.The book is a spell-binding record of a wonderful musical, the tragic events that inspired it, and the outpouring of kindness and inventiveness that resulted. Producing the book clearly took as much effort and talent as producing the show. And I learned a lot about the real people of Gander, the real “plane people,” and the theatrical production. (I didn't realize, while watching the excellent actors, that I was seeing in some cases color-blind casting – good work, everyone!)I warmly recommend this book, except for the work of the publisher. Hachette Book Group seems to have taken a hatchet to its proofreading costs. Errors – misspellings, missing quotation marks and paragraph indents, a block of text inserted twice – begin in the middle of the book and snowball up to the end. Destroying a brand does not increase shareholder value and does decrease customer satisfaction – or don't they teach that to MBAs? Buyer, beware.Nevertheless, the text and photos in “Come From Away” are richly rewarding. I thought this was going to be just a book about the musical, but not only is it behind the scenes, it includes the SCRIPT as well as stories and pictures from the real Plane People when they were forced to land in Gander back in 2001. Very informative and, at times, chilling read. Seeing the picture of all the planes on the tarmac gave me goosebumps.

This is a stellar companion to a charming and memorable musical. The additional insights into the making of the musical are interesting from both an artistic perspective as well as a historical perspective.

I found this book on Amazon after seeing Come From Away for the second time. This book wonderfully combines the story, lyrics (included deleted scenes and material), and photos of the show with narrative and comments about how the composers researched and put together the show, actor insights, comments and actual stories and reports from the real events and people of Gander and the surround communities on and after 9/11. It was also fun to hear about reunions and updates in the years following the event.

I saw Come from Away on Broadway and became so fascinated and moved by the show I recommended it to everyone. To learn more about the process and the ripples of hope it has created in such detail is a gift.

And I know that I will re-read this book many times. Such a clever setup, Come From Away: Welcome to the Rock: An Inside Look at the Hit Musical is a wonderful journey of love and hope.

Having really enjoyed seeing this show in London, I picked this book up from Amazon. A fascinating mix of how the show was made, who are the real life people behind the stories and all the dialogue and lyrics from the show, plus material that was written but didn't make it to the end show.

This book has so many in insights into the creation of the musical Come From Away. It's a definite must-buy for all fans of the show.

I have been reading more and more about the events and people who were involved in Newfoundland's part of September 11, 2001. I have tickets to the musical (which has been cancelled at the moment) but I saw the book and ordered it. It is so well done. It's not just about 9 11 but starts with a history of Newfoundland and it's people. It gives more background about those few days, how the musical came about, the people who are featured in the show and the lyrics to the songs. The pictures are beautiful. If you like the show, have seen it or like me are waiting to see it, it is a treasured addition to your home. It is extremely well done. It really makes one proud of our fellow Canadians.

I had received this book as a gift last year and, after introducing my friend to the show this year, bought this for her. She loved it. It was dispatched quickly and came in perfect condition.
