This book does a fine job covering thE history, esthetics, and context of British Campaign Furniture. The examples and pictures are excellent. The one area where it is weak is construction details. For that you will have to get Lost Art Press' book on the subject.

This is one of the most amazing books on furniture I've ever encountered. The author includes history of the campaign furniture, uses, and personal references from historical letters and sources. The photos are really good because they show the assembled piece and folded or disassembled views. Advertisements and historical illustrations accompany the text. A list of manufacturers and their specialties is also included. The book also includes other traveling accessories such as grooming kits, candle stands, game tables and decanter cases used by the discerning and civilized traveler. The history covers military and domestic use of these items and their popularity outside military imperial use.

The book was in perfect condition. And I found the 1860's campaign chair inside, with pictures AND manufacturer! Brilliant book.
