Before I rave about this blanket, let me just say I sat on whether or not to buy it for like a year. I was terrified of some of the product reviews being correct and then I finally realized that many of the worst ones are a bit old and may not be valid anymore. I was glad when I actually bought it and it came in beautifully!First and foremost, the sizing IS weird. The product is described as a queen, the bag it came in is marked as a king, but the size is actually somewhere in between. It fits in a standard single loader and that is all I really needed.Second, this thing is HEAVY. Close to ten pounds when I folded and weighed it. And it is rather thick, as well, but it isn't uncomfortably thick. It doesn't feel like a stuffed comforter or anything, it just feels like cozy soft goodness. It is not overly stiff from the thickness or anything to that effect. Super soft, husband loves it, cats love it. What more could I want? I live in the Northern United States and this thing kept us warm with no heat on.Next, the color. The black is a true black, however, the surrounding stitching has a bit of a green sheen in direct sunlight. No big deal, it isn't noticeable unless you look at it. It does have a brand name dyed into a corner, but it isn't like huge or anything. I can see it, but its not an eye catcher or anything. I can live with it.I DID wash this before using it. I washed it on a heavy warm cycle and then dried it twice on medium heat. It did not harm the blanket, no stitching came out, and it did not leave any kind of debris in the washer or on our clothing.Overall, 10/10 would recommend.

BE CAREFUL OPENING THE BOX IT SHIPS IN!. The box leaves much to be desired. It's a flimsy cheap box that looks like it came from the parking lot of a supermarket. It feels damp and thin. It is taped well, but if you aren't careful you will CUT the blanket when opening it with a box cutter or scissors. I could tell this right away just feeling the box. (Worked in shipping before). And the box was sort of mashed out of shape. As though the shipper just threw it around like crazy. BUT..I can sort of understand why. It's HEAVY as a tank. Thankfully the blanket was fine.The blanket comes zipped in a plastic bag that just barely fits it the box. I didn't have a problem with that. Size wise, I'd rather have a heavy smaller box, than a huge heavy box. Just wish the box was of better quality. Guess that's the 'shipper' part of me coming out...lol. But let me add that it arrived quickly.When I lifted the blanket out of the box, I grunted. I literally grunted. It's heavier than any blanket I've ever lifted. And I'm pushing 60. Now, I had read a couple of reviews on Amazon, different color versions of this brand, and I remember one review in particular stating to be careful to get the authentic "Solaron" and not some knock off. This blanket came with a plastic hang tag saying "Solaron", and other markings, tags, etc stating "Made in Korea", authentic, etc. The name "Solaron" looks like it is branded into the bottom edge of the blanket. Like you'd brand cattle. But it's not obnoxious looking. Truly by the weight of it alone I'd think it IS authentic. Although I honestly have no other Solaron's to compare it to, and I've never seen or heard of "Solaron". But I am super pleased with this blanket. Super.When I first opened the box in the dining room, it looked kind of black brown. But I think that was just the lighting because I took it upstairs and laid it across my bed and it looks black black.I have a 'normal' Queen sized bed. It hangs about 8 inches over the sides and about 12 inches off the bottom end (when I place the top edge of the blanket at the top edge of my mattress). Some might think this is a bit short on the sides, but I rather like it. I don't like blankets hanging lower than my comforter.The 'fur' is a bit strange. One side of the blanket is like the nap on a rich velvet, with fur instead of velvet. Almost like you shaved thick fur down to about an 1/8 of an inch. Very thick and tight and short. Like thick velvet. I LOVE it. The other side is a bit longer. When you rub your hand in one direction it almost looks like what you'd see if you parted the hair on an animal. You know how if you rub a kitten's coat it separates and you can sort of see some beige 'skin', then the hair falls back into place? Almost like that. When you rub your hand back, it lays down flat again. I guess it's supposed to mimic real animal fur? It's strange, but I actually like it also. However, it is NOT as long as a kittens fur. The look on this side is close to an allover chevron pattern. And no, it's not a look that will gross you out. I think you'll like it.The welting all around the blanket is sewn immaculately. No frays, loose seams. No bits of fiber or fur wafting in the air or all over the blanket. Very clean.I have not washed it yet since I only received it today. So I don't know what will happen. (Actually I have to check the label if it has to be dry cleaned or washed).This is a REALLY heavy blanket. I don't see how it wouldn't keep you almost HOT while using it. Matter of fact, I'm going to give it to my daughter to take to school further north because it sometimes, rarely but sometimes, snows up there. It's way too hot down here. But I'm glad I purchased it. I want a white one...just because...but don't have the money right now.I read some other reviews about it shedding. Mine is totally acceptable. I pulled it across my predominately white comforter set on my bed. I only had a couple of "bits" (not singular fibers) on my bed. But nothing to speak of really. Probably only 4 or 5. It's the same as with any other blanket when you first open it up, shake it out, and place it on the bed. I know some expensive 100% cotton blankets I've had in the past shed like crazy! Maybe the others got unlucky. Mine is great.I also read about the manufacturing 'quality' declining. As I said, I'm not familiar with Solaron, but if the quality on this one was any better, I'd be beside myself.I LOVE LOVE LOVE this blanket.

Everyone who has purchased a Solaron knows what to expect. Soft, heavy and crazy designs that you cringe at. I’m so happy I didn’t have to commit to a tiger design. My partner has never owned one, so I introduced him to this blanket. It’s his favorite. It’s my cat’s favorite blanket, and it’s the ultimate winter blanket. This one feels just like the one I had as a kid.

Absolutely love the blanket for functionality. Great color, so incredibly soft, warming, and just all around cozy. Unfortunately, it's got a giant SOLARON logo that I have to hide whenever I want to use it as a decorative throw blanket. I don't really want logos and branding on things in my home...

Overall I am very pleased with my purchase of this blanket. It's high quality, pretty heavy, and very soft. Best 80 dollars I've spent on a blanket.

Very heavy good for winter months. Appearance a one. Quality and stitching great. Would have brought in a king size they didn't have it in plain black at the time. I Recommend this product.

I bought this blanket about a year ago. It started shedding the minute we opened it. I figured I would give it a few washings to see it the problem would resolve itself and it has not. Its still shedding after 5 or mor washes and it just keeps getting worse. Save your money.

OMFG!!!! This is the kind of blanket that I've been looking for and wanting FOREVER!! It's SO soft and thick! It's heavy duty! I'm a side sleeper so I've been looking for a blanket that's thick enough to be in between my knees to where I don't feel the bones of my knees together (I don't like knee pillows...tried them all) and this blanket is perfect for that! No more adjusting the blanket between my knees everytime I switch sides! Finally!It's jet black. Looks so luxurious. And is by far the best blanket I've ever owned! I will definitely be purchasing the other colors.The only complaint I have ( which is a small one) is the queen is quite a few inches shorter than an actual queen blanket so it doesn't hang off my bed. Wishing I got the king. But that's okay because the quality of this more than makes up for the size difference.
