Nibbles are slightly smaller than Crumbles, so they're better for smaller birds. The size is the only difference.

Q: is this food recommended for parakeets?

Highly recommended by my vet. Pellet diet is much healthier than a seed diet. seeds are okay for an occasional treat but that diet can lead to fatty liver disease in parakeets. Some pellets are very bland but our parakeets immediately took to this brand!

I don’t know, having never smelled dog food. My budgies really like it, but they are happier with the low-fat variety.
