Beautiful leather work.
Exactly as advertised, I'm using it for a wallet as well as a note keeper. You do need to buy the "field note" books that fit it separately FYI.

Is good
It carries field note with no problem and leather is surprisingly good at this price range!

Great cover for a great notebook
I bought this cover to replace one I made myself, ut lost recently. It could not be more perfect for my needs. I'm a field engineer, and I use the inexpensive and widely available cahier notebooks for field notes. These books are perfect for my needs, but they're not terribly rugged in the context of my job, especially when it comes to getting wet. This cover is intended to protect the notebooks in the field.There are a couple specific things I like about this cover:1. For a field engineer, I am not good at writing on handheld tablets/clipboards. I HATE having uneven surfaces to write on. The inner covers fit the notebook snugly, and cover up most of the cover, meaning that the writing surface is smooth and doesn't have a vertical line running down it along the edge of the leather. This is really important to me.2. The notebook fits snugly into the cover. You have to work it into the pockets. This is a personal preference, but I like that. One nice (and very important) outcome of this is that it's small enough to fit into the breast pocket of my visibility vest.3. There aren't a bunch of extra features, like pockets for business cards and pen loops, that would make the cover either larger or bulkier, or make the writing surface lumpy behind the pages. (I'll tuck a few of my cards into the pocket that the notebook cover fits into at the front of the cover, and I'll use the back pocket for other people's cards and receipts as necessary.) I just tuck my favorite Tombow Airpress pen into the notebook at the current page, and clip it over the cover. Pen stays in place (because the Tombow's clip is quite robust) and the page is marked all at once - no pen loop or bookmark ribbon needed.4. The thing just looks nice.I don't lose notebooks often - they're my lifeblood in the field - but I plan to buy a couple more of these against that possibility. It's perfect for my needs, and I love the way it looks and feels in my hand.Highly recommended.

good for the money
the greatest attraction at first is the cost which was $18 ($2 off with the coupon)craftsmanship is amazing and it's beautifully made though the stitchings (threads) seem a bit thin, but still nice.it's very very thin which is perfect as I keep my notepads in my back pocket, the Field Notes slides in ever so perfectly.it's versatile, you can carry 2 Field Notes should you wish, you can slide them in whole or just the covers. either way it still sits in there super nice and flat. you can also just have one in there and use the other side for additional items of your choosing.the only thing that sorta threw me off was that the product pictures look very rustic and cool but mine looks kinda burgundy color and I only hope overtime it develops a nice darker patina.overall: a very good buy, highly recommended.

Nothing else included
Craftsmanship is well done. It is a durable cover. However, I should had read the description better. It comes with nothing in it. It’s the cover only. I like it, but had to buy the inserts later. So, I couldn’t use it right away. Make sure to get those items as well if you’re like me and want to use your purchase as soon as you open the package!

As Described, Fits in Front Pocket
Great pouch. Been using it for a few days. I keep the journals in my front pocket, and this width fits. The credit cards inside won't fall out because they don't have enough space to leave the compartment entirely. As for the pen, I clip it onto the side near the spine of the notebook - as narrow as possible. Many covers ship with a pen loop inside, but this hampers the writing on the left hand side when you open the notebook. So this is a good form factor.Update: I actually prefer this one to the more expensive cover from Coal Creek! As you can see in the image, this cover is smaller, and fits my front pant pocket. I wish more craftsmen would think to reduce the size of their covers as much as possible!

It looks expensive ...
I love this journal because its quality is top the notch like I have been rough from it by carrying at my back or side pocket for work which involves a lot of bending my knees and hips from carrying yet this really holds up since I purchase it. Better yet when I open it in the front of a customer of a restaurant I heard the customer saying "What is that ?" asking her buddy then she answers ... then she said "It looks Expensive". I think I must buy one before the seller raise the price up for having a good feedback like this like all the seller do. One more thing why not lower the price when you are getting a lot of customer just for a change?

JJNUSA = Chinese company?
I am happy with your Field Notes cover. It's useable for writing on left side pages. Nice and thin. Why pay 2x or 3x or more? Great value for the price.Arrived in 2 days which is great these days. Some leatherworkers want 3 to 5 weeks or more, and very high shipping costs.[One question: Why is your Chinese company named JJNUSA? ]I'm quite satisfied with your product. Thanks!
