Kind of Nice
Morgan Freeman is such a favorite of mine, and I have always enjoyed watching Diane Keaton with her quirky mannerisms. I could watch either one in almost any film and walk away loving the movie even if it was actually mediocre. So I will try to put that aside and give a review of the movie itself. I thought the plot was a thin. In fact I'm not sure whether to call it a plot, unless you find apartment hunting entertaining when it involves two people who are direct opposites. It's basically about a mixed marriage of two people who went against convention and married decades ago when mixed marriages were more of a "scandal" than it is today. But they weathered those early years and made a life in a humble but comfortable apartment. Freeman is an easy-going kind of husband; an artist who isn't fussy about details. Keaton is a busy, busy personality (as she usually is in her movies) and decides the best thing for them is to find a beautiful new apartment with many bells and whistles----"It will be SO much better for his painting..." But Freeman is perfectly happy where he is and has no desire to go into debt----or to move from where he is comfortable---especially as they are both getting old. But in these marriages, where they have opposite ideas and ARE opposite on many levels, the easy-going-one just goes along with the plan rather than fight. This is the movie. This is the whole story. And it takes 2 hours of wading through it minute after minute to get to the predictable end. I like Keaton and, as I said, Freeman, so it was enjoyable to just sit there with them for two hours. But if you're looking for a fun, rich story this isn't going to be memorable in any way.

Love story
I really enjoyed this movie. Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton are perfect as a married couple who are getting up there in age and thinking about moving from their old 5th floor apartment building with no elevators into a newer apartment building with elevators. The 3rd star is their dog, who is also old and having health issues. You won't regret watching this movie.

Moving, no pun intended
We've been angsting over selling our home, and either buying or building... so I'm not sure if that influenced my reaction to this movie, but it was heart warming and I was a bit teary at the end. I guess it made me realize home is what you make it and I'm not sure I want to leave the one I have anymore. Great movie, great actors, that leaves you with that "feel good" sensation at the end.

A great story for seniors that march to their own drum
This was very good. I did not really think it would be, but with great acting it made the story line come alive. I recommend it to seniors who want to stay active and in control of their lives. It is uplifting and yet real.

A reminder of "You've Got Mail"-- the New York sidewalks, the skyline, the people, the taxies--delightful!
I just loved this movie. I liked the way the film writer flipped back in time so that we could understand who this couple was and how they got together. I loved the part about the dog but I think the Mr. Freeman should have put the coffee down and picked up the sweet little dog and carried him up the stairs. The movie was well organized and as the action moved to the end, I hated for these people to end. I liked the characters who came to view the apartment but in reality the real estate person should not have allowed the owner to be around the buyers. Morgan Freeman was so laid back you could not tell what he was thinking and that was necessary for the ongoing apartment hunt and sale to reach the climax of how this story would end up.I loved the couple. There was just enough information about their history to leave you wanting for more. The ending was a happy one for everybody: us the viewer and the contented couple of 40 years. They were so sweet--you just wanted to hang around like the little girl who wanted to talk and find out more about her new acquaintance Morgan Freeman.Surprising was the actor hired to play Morgan Freeman. In the first frames of the movie the actor looked like a young Morgan Freeman and sounded like him as well. A very good choice! The female actress was wonderful but not a look alike for Diane Keaton. I personally think it wouldbe very difficult to find a look alike for Diane --she is just too unusual looking--beautiful, smart, elegant and ageless.Worth every penny!
