Remarkable
Glory in Death is about 30 years in the future!I'm pleased to share that sci-fi part was minimal, and really had no bearing on the story! This book is a good old fashion whodunit!Filled with interesting characters and vibrant dialogue JD Robb has outdone himself! This was a great second book I'm the series!

Oldie but a goodie
I have read most of These books but must have missed this one. As usual a very good, intense, story.

Engaging murder mystery with a hint of romance!
Glory in Death is book two in the futuristic In Death series, and was just as entertaining as book one.Summary:Advances in technology and the medical field have made it possible to weed out any violent hereditary traits. Unfortunately, human nature is human nature and murder still happens. No one knows this better than Lieutenant Eve Dallas. She speaks for the dead on a regular basis, and she's good at her job. So when the first body is found lying on the rain-soaked sidewalk and a second is found at her apartment building, Eve has no trouble connecting the two cases. Both victims are smart, beautiful, and wildly successful in their respective fields. But who wants them dead? And why? Eve will have to delve deep into their glamorous lives, complicated families and even their intimate relations with men of wealth and power to find a killer. But can she weed through the long suspect list, a list that includes her own lover, Roarke, before another death occurs?I've heard about this series often in my years involved in the book world, and most recently from my closest reading buddy, JadeShea. I have been intrigued by the series, especially with its longevity, but never felt the overwhelming inclination to read it right away. Now, after picking up book two right after book one, I can say I'm hooked. From the first sentence, I was pulled into this new world of advanced technology and I was happy to stay there. Eve is an excellent heroine. I love her independence, smarts, and fierce sense of duty. She serves the dead and takes that job seriously. Eve is a complex woman with a difficult past. While we didn't get a whole lot more detail on that part of her life, I felt she had quite a bit of growth in this book. It's not easy and she's still uncomfortable, but she feels and lets honest emotion out. She's starting to open up while learning more about herself and who she wants to be. I adore Eve's relationship with Roarke. There are some rough patches to be sure, but in the end, their connection is too strong to deny. The steam factor is high, but my favorite aspect of their romance is that Roarke is leading the charge, so to speak. I love how he pursues Eve, showing her that they can trust their vulnerabilities to each other. This shows Roarke in only the best light as a strong, confident, supportive man. I also think that his openness allowed Eve to be the same, letting her admit that she needed him, too. Overall, I enjoyed Glory in Death, even if it wasn't as exciting as book one. There is still so much more to Eve, Roarke, and the other recurring characters, that I'm looking forward to learning. Feeney and Mavis are a couple of my favorites, and I hope to see a lot more of them in future books. I also really appreciate the futuristic aspect. Despite it being an advanced time with advanced technology, it never overwhelms nor does it overshadow the mystery. In fact, it supports the mystery and maybe even enhances it. The mystery itself was entertaining, even if I had an inkling early on as to who the killer was. I did experience doubt here and there, which helped keep me turning the page. I get a good mystery with a hint of romance, and it's perfect. I was surprised at the ending, though. With the amount of books in this series and no signs of J.D. Robb slowing down, I never anticipated the characters to move so fast. I'm very much looking forward to the rest of the series to see just where we'll go. ♡

Terrific
Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas has been assigned a case that makes no sense. Two crimes of highly professional women who have been admired citizens in New York. Eve has to navigate delicately as there is a tie to one of the woman to her Chief. Working the case is her passion but her relationship with Roarke is becoming strained, he wants more from Eve and Eve is not sure if she can give it. What happens as the case goes awry and she has to come to terms with how she feels about Roarke. What I am enjoying about this series is Eve is so skittish with Roarke in some ways. I think she is a bit stilted sometimes with how she shows her emotions and it endears you to her character. Roarke is a breathtaking hero, he oozes power and has so much patience with Eve. Terrific sequel to the first book.

Excellent as expected
Book 2 was as excellent as book 1. The storyline was straightforward with just enough of a twist that the reader is kept guessing!! If you haven't started the series, you really need to! Now, on to book 3!

Glory in Death
I love this series, and the relationships between the characters. It is interesting to look into what was technology of the future when this series started, and some of these things are around today but with different names. I really want an auto-chef!

Excellent story; Kindle format has issues
J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors, and this book is extremely gripping and fast paced. The evolving romance between Roarke & Eve is heartbreaking and exhilarating.However.The Kindle edition doesn't space between chapter sections, meaning that you are in one scene, then in another with the next sentence IN THE SAME PARAGRAPH, with no spacing or break to indicate a change of scene. This is very disorienting and jarring. If it only happened once it would just be an irritating glitch, and I wouldn't have bothered to mention it. But it's throughout the book, so either bad editing or very bad typesetting.

Double billing.
My visa bill shows that I was charged for this book by Amazon on Nov 8, 2023 and then again by Kindle Svcs on Nov 9, 2023. Hope this can be rectified. I appreciate your service and love the books.
