I had difficulties finding a screen that was 6" long, so I was grateful to find my size and preferred color through this company. Easy to assemble, light, and works well for our needs. It's waterproof and keeps the wind and light away. I would highly recommend this product.

Arrived earlier than expected. Great condition. Easy to install. Works great. Provides nice shade for porch and back of house. Like that you can see through it and light comes through. Did not want a dark shade that completely blocks the view. Also keeps the rain mostly out when it storms.

We bought this to block the West sun on our deck. Hoping it will also keep some of the heat out this summer. It offers privacy - you can see out, but you cannot see through it from the outside. It was easy to install. Using the roller to raise and lower works smoothly.

Purchased 6ft x 8ft shade in walnut for a screened in front porch that gets bright morning sun. Was a bit of challenge with high ceiling, but with 2 ladders and 2 people, easy enough to install. Looks great, the walnut color blending nicely with stained wood, and works as described, blocking light and heat from sun so I can enjoy sitting on porch with my coffee. The bungee tie downs work good to keep in place when breezy. As another reviewer noted, only a 4ft wand for lowering/raising, comes with 8ft long shade. With shade mounted on 10 ft high area, I have to reach way above my head, standing on tip toes to crank. A good upper body workout like that. The longer wands (6ft) from Coolaroo only cost $4.95, but shipping was $25. Looked at numerous other options on line and everywhere had similar shipping costs for 6ft or longer pole. Think the cheapest was $24.99 ($12.99 for wand and $12 to ship). Ended up ordering from Coolaroo as they were only ones with brown color in stock. If had come with longer wand (seems logical to have), would have rated 5 stars. Still love shade and was most affordable, practical option I had found. Have several Coolaroo sun shades providing relief from sun for my chickens and can say they have held up beautifully through 2 years now despite many serious, high wind producing storms and several snows. Hope this lasts like those.Edit: got the 6 ft wand from coolaroo and it is amazingly better to raise/lower the 8ft shade!! Well worth the expense for me. Came in an ~ 6 ft long, 5 inch tube that was a bear to open (broke open the plastic cap with screw driver and plyers). Even with the extra $30 to get a more usable length wand directly from coolaroo, this is still more affordable than other shade or curtain options I explored and I do not regret my purchase one bit!!

Yes, yes, yes there are negatives but the usefulness far outweighs the negatives. I bought two to cover two windows in an office. Before installing these I could not work in the office during the heat of the day. After installing the shades, the room is much cooler. And my electric bill is less. I like the ability to change the amount of heat allowed into the windows (by rolling the shades up or down). If I had tinted the windows, then there's no option to allow more heat during the winter. So, that's one major reason i opted for these shades as opposed to permanent tinting. The instructions say two people are needed for installation. I did install these by myself and I'm not the most handy person (not the least either). They seem durable and resistant to years of sun damage. Even if they only last 3 years it's still worth it. However, after a couple years I see no signs of wear on the shade or the hardware (no rust or failure to operate). I do keep the handles used the wind the shades up & down inside the house. The negatives?(1) Frogs love to hide on them and are prone to getting bond up when rolling the shades up or down. Squish. (2) It is manual (3) The spooled shade can get crooked while rolling it up. ----The main point is that I will buy again if the time comes.

Have used these at multiple homes over the years. These shades can be customized for size at home. We cut all of these to size by popping off the tube ends, removing the fabric, cutting the 2 tubes to size with a hacksaw, then cutting the fabric with a rotary cutter ( wife is a sewist) then reassembling. They look great and work well.

In the northern California valley, the summer sun is intense. Temps are often over 100 deg F in the summer and the afternoon sun will heat up your home through any western facing windows. This shade does a very good job at blocking much of the sun and keeping the heat on the outside of the window. It is lightweight, simple to install and has lasted two summers. The sun has not melted the material, but I don't have anything reflecting on it either. The mechanism to raise/lower works well, but can get dislodged if you mount it slightly off. It does have plastic hardware, so will see how much longer it will last. Purchased some optional bungy clips that help to secure it at the bottom.

This is a nice purchase for my house. I installed it indoors to cover some windows in the basement. They give a very nice filtrated light without blocking the natural light. It gives the room a nice cosy atmosphere and it provides privacy during the day.

At this time of the year sun is very hot on front porch, this protects whilst still enjoying coffee. Very easy to install. Wish the crank was a little sturdier but otherwise no complaints

Easy to install and works well. Just a little pricey, in my opinion.
