Adorable
I got this for my son who hates reading and he really enjoyed the book. I thought it was extremely adorable, but it lacked in structure. There were parts of it I was a little lost on, but overall it did the job in helping my kid read more.

Mesmerizing artwork that pulls you in
I randomly saw this book on a shelf at the local library and was pulled in by the cover. It's a quaint story of a young couple who travel to Japan to try and capture pictures of Onibi (ghosts). They stay with a very welcoming couple and make day excursions to locales that have been said to have Onibi. They meet people along the way who assist. It's the artwork that shines in this book.

Love the artwork; plot not so much
I follow the team's instagram and is a fan of their artwork. So I was very excited when they announced that there will be an English translation of this book. I don't own the original version so can only speak of the English version. The translated texts' font and printing don't match with the book's aesthetic at all. Visually detracts, and is distracting, from the feel of the wonderful artwork. Which leads to my next point, the plot...While the watercolor artwork is very nice, and I greatly enjoy looking at them, the stories leave much to be desired. It's a collection of short "encounters" with the yokai's. Each short stories seem to end before it even begins. Was a very unsatisfying read. Overall, it feels more like a promotional piece for the places that they went to in Niigata, Japan. It was very much a "diary" of their travels. The ghost stories aspect was very misleading.

Beautiful book!
Beautiful artwork and an interesting story. It’s split up into 8 stories, each punctuated by a photograph of a yokai. The text doesn’t always flow; I had to re-read sections and some never made perfect sense, but it turns out that it was translated from French.

Interesting set up
This is a nice enough ghost hunting travel log through a section of Japan. It is lite and nicely suitable for a younger audience but older ghost heads wanting darker thrills might find it a bit too lite.

Gorgeous Comic for Yokai Lover
I've accumulated quite the collection of Yokai related Literature and Artwork and this one was a great addition to my shelf! It is a peculiar story of 2 curious travelers getting their hands on a toy camera in Japan's rural Area, that supposedly is able to capture Yokai on film. They travel around, listen to the stories of people and try to take pictures in interesting spots that might hold a spirit hidden, waiting to get snapped. The story is not scary, but it gives you just the right amount shivers and surprised gasps whenever you finish one story and the picture they've taken shows up before the next chapter starts. I hope we get to see more of this type of content in the future dear Tuttle! And lots of love for Atelier Sento, for their gorgeous, extremely fitting and slightly creepy artstyle! I loved it!
