The Doomsday Conspiracy

But the book is definitely as good as any other books by Sidney Sheldon
I can't believe I waited this long to read this book. I've inhaled all of other Sidney Sheldon’s books long time ago. Now that there are no more books, I decided to read the Doomsday Conspiracy. The original description turned me off a bit (aliens, etc - was not very interested). But the book is definitely as good as any other books by Sidney Sheldon. Great plot, wicked twists, definitely a page turner.

REALISTICALLY SCARY!
I think at some point in our lives we have seen (or thought we have) a UFO. This book lets you know to keep your mouth shut or lie and run from the powers that be if you have! And have you ever met some people and wonder hmmmm are they of this earth? Okay anyway I love the twists and turns of this book. It makes you catch your breath with the detective that has the assignment of finding all the people who saw this mysterious weather balloon and him finally realizing that he's indirectly responsible for their deaths! And as for the passengers of the balloon, not all of them died! So there! And Sidney gives you a glimpse of what it feels like from its point of view. BUT THE REALLY SCARY PART IS FROM PAGE 396 ONWARD.

Where's the story about doomsday?
Although the title is "Doomsday Conspiracy", the story is anything but; while the reader is lead on a veritable wild goose chase, with each chapter reflecting the old cliché', "same story, different verse", you are left wondering when is the doomsday conspiracy story going to begin? The title should have been, "The Ultimate result of Climate Change". The doomsday portion of the story is a mere side note, mentioned occasionally to perpetuate the myth of doom, while the written story focuses too much on the central characters attempt to locate witnesses and how we are supposedly destroying our environment from an aliens point of view!Once the carnage is over, the ending was contrived and too predictable, leaving the reader wondering what just happened.I would not recommend this book to anyone looking for a true doomsday conspiracy story. If you want to read a story about how to locate someone, you may enjoy the read from a purely academic stand point, however, if you are looking for a story about the end of the world, look elsewhere.

Great book that is literally out of this world
Although it was a little far out, the plot grabbed me and held me to the very last page. Reading this book was a great escape.

Would make a great movie!
I enjoyed this book very much on my new Kindle HDX. Wish Mr. Sheldon was still alive so I could thank him for a very enjoyable book that he could have made into a great movie. You can visualize the characters and the scenes very well and it keeps you guessing until the end.

Brilliant - couldn't put it down!
If you think life on other planets, aliens and UFOs are a load of rubbish, then you will probably hate this book. If, on the other hand, you have an open mind about such matters you might well enjoy this fast paced thriller. The story is based on a true incident back in the 1940s, and Mr Sheldon has certainly done a lot of research into the matter, as you will find in the Author’s Notes at the end of the book. The evidence in these notes certainly gives the reader something to think about.Commander Robert Bellamy, a Naval Intelligence officer, is something of a James Bond. Given an impossible task by the NSA (National Security Agency) of finding ten people who witnessed the crash of an UFO, without so much as a name or even which country they are in, he locates and identifies them all only to discover they are all then being killed off. Our hero then turns from the Hunter to the Hunted as the CIA set out to eliminate Robert Bellamy himself and he enters a cat and mouse chase around Europe, never knowing who he can trust.A very clever novel, with impossible twists and turns, I couldn’t put it down. It doesn’t do to think too much about just how much each off the witnesses was able to remember about their fellow passengers on the bus, or how Robert was on the run for so long without a change of clothes or the opportunity to shower/shave, but then this is just fiction. And Sheldon was certainly a brilliant storyteller.

Overall a good read.
Nice quick pace, nice character development and I enjoyed the story, the alien stuff wasn’t for me but it was overall worth the reading time.
