the tripod is a bit unsteady when fully extended but the level worked great. the range of the detector that I purchased separately was much better than I anticipated and with leaving the tripod lowered, it works just fine. the level is easy to set up and level and checking the accuracy with a water level, it is well within tolerance for almost any project.

For the price, you cant beat it. I used after grading the ground to set an above ground pool. I will use it to set post and cinder blocks for a foundation. Nice product!!!

Works well, would have gotten five stars, except for the fact that it doesn't clamp very well to a grade rod, made for 2x material as a rod

I needed this to replace our receiver that was dropped into a lake. Fast shipping, and worked perfectly. I tried to buy this in my local hardware store but they do not sell the receiver separate. Much cheaper than buying the whole kit.

Was pretty happy with this unit until it just stopped working in the middle of a job. It wasn't dropped, allowed to get wet, etc. Replaced the batteries, nothing. Opened it up and found the wire connecting the battery pack to the unit was broken inside. Tried an on site fix with a soldering gun and still nothing. Had to run out and rent an entire laser kit for more than the cost of the entire unit to finish the job.

We had a Johnson Laser Rotary Level already and bought the Detector hoping we could use it over a 100 foot area in sunlight. This thing far exceeded our expectation. We could cover well over 250 feet and probably could have gone further. A great tool!

Worked outdoors in bright sunlight with no problems. Longest distance though was 25'. Together with Johnson rotary laser, low cost and seems very accurate.

Worked great the first day. Second day it beeped on grade regardless where the grade stick was positioned. Tried changing the batteries and still done the same. Had concrete to pour so I had to go and rent an entire laser. Having to rush around to resolve the problem was no fun! will try to return it. I do not recommend.

Easy to set up. The 40-6705 detector works very well with the 40-0922 rotary laser. Great combination.Well worth the money.

Junk. Didn't last 1 hour on a clear day
