Treadmill.
I remember when Lenny Kravitz was a pariah in the music community. He was making interesting music on his first three cds, doing his own thing and getting accused of plagarizing Led Zeppelin and Hendrix. I thought he was making the old, new again. There weren't many people at that time making the kind of rough cut music that he was making. Now, on "Lenny", Kravitz appears to finally solidify his commercial appeal that he began on "5". However, with commercializing his sound he risks making bland pop songs, which I think he does well on "Lenny". Kravitz knows how to turn out simple but catchy melodies, but I couldn't find anything as memorable as his past work. I think Kravitz is just spinning his wheels here waiting for his next great achievement. I expect originality from Kravitz and this time out he just didn't make any edgy moves. So, three stars it is.

Lenny.
Some of the songs kinda blend together but songs like If I Could Fall In Love, Yesterday Is Gone (My Dear Kay) and Dig In revive you from total monotony, the latter mainly the strongest and most noticeable melody. At first listen many, many months ago, I was ready to say goodbye and never listen to this CD again. I'm glad I didn't! Lenny actually has a bit to say unlike his rapper counterparts, although his lyrics, while mostly done by him aren't very amazing. His CD 5 and Mama Said are still better in my eyes, but this CD isn't too bad.72/100 points.end note: all of the tracks are slower tunes or mid-tempos so you may get bored the first time through (like I did) but give it a chance, especially if you're a fan.

I dont understand ?
I have read many reviews stating that this effort from Lenny was not in the top ten, but I beg to differ! He is still got that same prince/sly stone/funkadelic/black murda/ fugi/curtis mayfield funk combination that I am used 2.And at the same time being totally original.

Lenny loses his swagger!
When you compare this album to his first 4 albums this album just doesn't quite hit the spot. The musicianship and production are superb. It's the songs that are fairly weak and most sound like average B sides! Disappointed!

Good album of Kravitz but not its best.
This CD with the album "Circus" are the 2 albums from Lenny Kravitz which I personally like less, however a few tracks are worth it.

HUGE return to full vibe rock and roll action!
He came back with this full-on bouncin' huge rocker of an album. It jumped straight into the 20 first century, with a great selection of heavy stormin rock tunes, glitched up dance infected songs, r'n'b, ballardy tunes and great big rock sing-alongs that had been missing of recent for him. Really big, great inspiring soulful record. Dazzlin'.

More of the same
On its own I might give this 4 stars rather than 3 but if you own any of his other albums (preferably Mama said, Are you gonna go my way and Circus) there's no real need to own this. Whilst Lenny is always pretty consistant he also never really progresses.

Male Vocalist is by far one of the hardest catagory's to excell in consistently, in this case Lenny was not on top of his game..
Not nearlyl as good as "Mama Said", or others in his library of discs this CD simply dubbed "LENNY" Is still well enough to break the barrier of strength so as to be named OK..Personally i was not overly impressed by this CD, it simply did not have the punch of other Kravitz discs, That does not dismiss the title out of hand, if you are a died in the wool Lenny Kravitz fan then this will more than likely be OK with you. I happen to be critical of him and his style. With the amount of competition on the market today a male vocalist simply has to work VERY HARD to sell discs these days, and this disc simply isnt good enough to cross that line of greatness for me...I extend that rule to even such greats as Robert Plant as well I dont simply buy his latest because it is out there to buy, it has to have real merit in order for me to spend the money on the disc.

BUON DISCO
