BernatCrushed Velvet Yarn, Burgundy

Getting this skein of gorgeous crushed velvet yarn has been a real pain in the patootie! First, the Amazon driver who documented that the package was “handed directly to resident” is a big ole liar. We looked and looked for it when it wasn’t here on the scheduled day and then this afternoon, my husband found it thrown in a snowbank by the side of our house. I took a picture of it before he picked it up, but Amazon doesn’t provide any way to post it. Fortunately the yarn was sealed in its own clear bag so it wasn’t damaged by all the moisture. As far as the yarn itself is concerned, it’s really beautiful and will work up very nicely into a tea cozy if I can ever find the end to get started! I’ve pulled almost the entire center out of the skein and still haven’t found it. I feel a snap coming on pretty quickly so am headed to get a glass of wine instead! Very frustrating experience. I’m not sure if I would recommend this yarn to anyone despite it being so lovely. It will depend on how my project goes so I will try to get back here and edit this review when it’s done.

This yarn is soft, perhaps a little evil, but mind bogglingly soft and perfect. I was previously unaware that yarn this soft existed before i bought this. Used it to make a scarf for my boyfriend but quickly fell into an abyss of softness. (I will steal that scarf back asap.)It likes to slip and might have a mind of its own at times, but the end product will be worth it1 ball should be enough for a good scarf, mine ended up being about 4 inches wide and 6 feet long and i still had some extra left over.

I gotta say this velvet yarn is amazing to work with. It's super soft and the deep grey is beautiful. I had no problems with my stitches coming loose and most importantly, IT DOES NOT SHED, like the Hobby Lobby velvet yarn does. So far I've crocheted a few scrunchies, and I'm confident that anything else I could make with it, will come out just as perfect.

Wanted to make a blanket that was amazingly soft! Well this did the trick! It’s a bit tricky to use but it’s work the time. I would def but more in the future!

Amazing product! I love that they wrapped up the yarn in plastic to make sure it was safe from the elements. Shipping was fast and the yarn is incredible! Ridiculously soft and gorgeous, vibrant color. I can’t believe I hadn’t found these sooner!

This yarn is so incredibly soft and I just love it. I was concerned when I read the reviews that people were having trouble with it 'knotting up' or that it was really difficult to work with. My skeins were perfect and never knotted while coming off the skein - I didn't even need to re-roll it. It's a little tougher to work with because it's so soft and fine - but maybe because I'm just doing triple chains in long rows for a throw blanket, it's coming together very nicely. The only thing I was a tad dissappointed with - the 'white' is not just white. It has gray throughout the strands. I really wanted solid white but this is going to be so buttery soft to snuggle under that I don't care!

My knit and crochet friends say this stuff stretches and gets loopy on bigger projects like sweaters--so a disappointment. But my use is for scrunchies, and for that it is perfect! A luxurious result, and this velvet is so light-catching. They were a hit at the Valentine craft bazaar.

The beautiful colors caught my eye as I'm making knitted blankets. The yarn is so very soft BUT do not use for chunky projects as it slides and creates impossible loops in my rows. I tried single strand with #8 circular needles, 2 strands with #9s, tried 3 strands and #15s, then I tore my work apart for the 5th time! and returned all unused, new skeins for whatever credit Yarnspirations will offer. Over $130 spent in yarn and shipping and hours wasted this Bernat Crushed Velvet does NOT play well with knitted projects.

It seems that every 3 meters of yarn it is cut. I either have to tie it back together or treat it like a colour change. Very frustrating as this is supposed to be a Christmas gift. The end result is NOT what I'm hoping it looks like😫😫

This is soooooo soft. Very slippery, light weight -perfect for the scarf I made for my neice for Christmas. I doubled it up for a bulky knit with a flannel feeling yarn for a second scarf for myself.
