Not heavy duty, but they'll do
I purchased this product at a reduced price in turn for a thorough review. We use our kitchen scissors for not only cooking-related activities, but also for a lot of normal household needs when a normal pair of scissors are not within reach (which is quite often). I currently have a pair of KitchenAid kitchen scissors and wanted to do a side by side comparison of the products. Typical uses in our household range from opening boxes to cutting herbs to spatchcocking whole chickens.I'll start out with the cons. The black handle on the Emeril scissors is not as thick as the KitchenAid scissors, and there is small amount of wiggle in the handles. But this doesn't prevent any expected behavior. The blades are slightly shorter as well when measured from the center of the pivot point, but it's nothing that will impact performance. I feel comfortable using this for our normal household needs. However, I'm not so sure how these scissors will hold up if you need to spatchcock a turkey. As with most normal kitchen blades, they do require occasional maintenance in the form of sharpening. Take care of your tools, and they'll take care of you.

Don't buy them, they are no good!!!
I gave it a 5 star review first but I'm changing it to 1 because they didn't even last 3 month. I thought they were going to last, but they already broke. They are no good, don't waste your money. When I received them, I was like, "this is a flimsy product," but to my surprise they were doing there job. They are very sharp and can cut through thick meat and bone like a pro, and to top it off you get 2 for the price of one, now that you can't beat. But that didn't last. I can't send them back, because the time had expired to do so, so I just threw them away.

Scissors - Poor Quality
Scissors are 5 months old. The previous scissors came with a cutlery set. Those scissors became hard to open and close and eventually the handle broke! Bought a new pair of scissors to keep the cutlery set alike. The new pair of scissors I purchased were the same as the previous pair. The new scissors too are now hard to open and close and too,,, the handle is now broke. I bet Emeril does not know this. Doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would allow his name to be on a product with this type of poor quality.Scott A. McKenzie Sr.

These worked great a few times
These worked great a few times, then one by one, they tightened up to where I needed to use both hands to pull the blades apart. I tried washing them in the dishwasher, hand washing in warm water, then only cold water and then only wiping them off with clorox wipes. The same thing happened to all three pairs irregardless of how I used and washed them. I gave two stars because while they worked, they worked very well.

Not everything from a well known celebrity is perfect.
Disappointing at best, the prongs on the sharpener were broken on the sharpening side and the bottom was split as if it had been cut, the scissors were very dull, not what I had read as advertised, I gave them to my husband to see if he could sharpen them on his shop lathe but they were bent, threw them away. Very disappointing especially from EMERIL.

stays put on the counter
This was a gift - I have one similar & love the locking grip to the counter prior to sharpening my knives. I always disliked the previous sharperner that jumped around. This one locks & stays put until released. Safety first!
