Snowmageddon (Windy City Neighbors Book 5)

Good ending to a good series.
The Jackson writing team is one of my favorite authors. Every time I finish one of their series, I feel like a good friend is moving. The characters are believable, regular people struggling with everyday life situations. Marital problems, financial problems, troubled children. The main character Estelle is all too human. She's a bit of a control freak and impatient when she thinks God is not anwering her prayers fast enough for her perfect solution of having a group home in the neighborhood so her son can live nearby. There are brief mentions of the original Yada Yada prayer group and the House of Hope series. I love the diversity of the characters and how even in a big city, you can form bonds within a neighborhood or complex. I'm sad the series is ending. I would like to get to know some of the other characters better. A feel good book about the power of prayer, faith, friendship and the goodness of God.

Pure Genius!
This book went beyond my wildest hopes and imaginations!! When I got to the culminating event near the end I was absolutely laughing out loud and thinking, "This is pure genius!! The best story I have ever read!" Seriously! Dave and Neta Jackson are the BEST at creating believable, complicated characters with real life joys and pains and conflicts and worries, yet at the same time showing the reader how God weaves all those things together into a good thing - maybe different than expected, but good. I'm sure this book could be greatly enjoyed even by a reader who has never read any of the rest of the series, but it is especially delightful after having read the other four. Better yet, after having read every book they have written since the first Yada Yada book. Can't wait to see what they are coming up with next!

Intense inner city life and drama.
I give this story four stars because I like Dave and Neta Jackson's realistic and closeup stories of life for inner city dwellers. They do a very good job developing their characters, both Christian and non-Christian. These stories are not a life I am used to, and in some instances (this book in particular) I found it difficult to read. My emotions became too involved. I had to put the book down for awhile and then begin reading again later. I think that is the sign of a very good book for a lot of folks, but I'm not able to handle a steady diet of tough, almost hopeless, distressful and scary situations. I would highly recommend this book to friends, but would give them a heads up about the heaviness of the story.

Love the book
The worst thing about reading this book was that I knew it was the last in a delightful series. When I was finished reading I felt like old friends had moved away. If you are familiar with the Yada Yada series, you will recognize lots of folks in the pages of this book. It is, from my point of view, very realistic as far as human emotions, realistic situations, and blizzards in Chicago. I loved this book.

Another great book!!!
I loved this book, just as I have loved every other book in this series, and all of the other series before it. I am a HUGE fan of this author. Every book is a page turner and I am unable to put the book down because I am just dying to see what happens next. Snowmaggedon was a great conclusion to the Windy City series, I am just sorry that it is over. I will miss Harry and Estelle and the cameos and mentions of past characters from the Yada Yada series. They all feel like old friends. I am however looking forward to whatever Ms. Jackson has next in store for us! If you have enjoyed her other books, this one will definitely not disappoint.

A great visit to Chicago!
It sure was a great visit for me back to Beecham Street and the Bentley's. I can get caught up in the hustle and bustle surrounding their life quicker than their grandson DaShawn can go through Estelle's macaroni and cheese!Seriously, the Jacksons, who co-write this series, are so good at their craft! There is always, always real issues in their stories; whether it be relationships within families, personal fears and how we let them color our world, racism in all its' facets.....they always challenge me to ask what boundaries God is asking me to enlarge in my own world and in my faith.I will always, always pick up any book Dave and Neta Jackson write.

Snow place like Home
Sweet story of kindness, learning to let go and let God...and bringing all walks of faith together. God is in control.

Another good read in the series.
Really enjoyed this book as I did all the Windy City Neighbors stories. I like how Neta and Dave write from the perspective of a different resident on the block in each book, although this one seemed a little different. It started off as if the main focus would be on the orthodox Jewish family, but then it switched to being primarily about the Bentley family. Oh well, looking forward to the next book which I hope will be coming soon. I would recommend this book, but I think you gain the most benefit if you read the whole series, starting at the first book.

A lovely finish to the Windy City Neighbours series
A lovely story with an ending to make you go, 'Ahhhhh'. Easy to get into whether you've read the rest of the series or not, as always, Neta and Dave's characters leap off the page and gather you up into a big warm hug.

Great Read
This book is an engaging, clean and wholesome read, that would encourage believers and non-believers alike. It culminates this series, showing how even the least likely neighbours can become a neighbourhood. There are still a few loose ends that may/may not lead to a new series. It also includes snippets of some of the cast from the original Yada Yada series, gently woven into the story so that readers remember them as well. There are still some untold/unfinished stories there. Reading these books is like sitting down with an old friend for tea and catching up on all the news. I can't wait for the next installment from Dave and Neta Jackson.

Buckle your prayer seat belts and join the ride!
Dave and Neta Jackson write about real life situations so that the reader feels a part of the books. This book was no exception. When reading, you are a part of the neighbourhood they are writing about and can join right in with all the joys and sorrows, trials and triumphs, and learn more about God and His unfailing love.
