Incredible option for the price
thanks to the fact that the genesis/megadrive almost never uses any special chips inside the cartridges, a cheap device like this can play almost all of the library, as well as tons of mods and homebrew really cheaply. the *only* problem with it is that the pins on the cartridge are way thicker than a standard cartridge, and it can kind of get stuck in the console. (There's practically never a reason to take it out though.)

Does most of what you want for cheap
It's cheap! And it works pretty good. Boots up most SMS, GG, and Genesis from SD without any extras hardware, worked fine on my 32x add-on. The only problem I ran in to is some Genesis ROMs it would try to boot in SMS mode (Sega Master System) instead of Genesis so they wouldn't run, I tried renaming the extensions but that didn't work, I'm sure it's a software issue or I'm not doing something right, the other problem is while there is a region free setting it didn't seem to work all the time and a game wouldn't load. The load time does take 15-20 seconds but that's not a big deal. For the price can't beat it. The battery inclusion is great for save games.

Not working 100%
Now it works with Genesis/megadrive games and sega master system games but it doesnt work with Genesis 32x games and the game gear games load up but with a lot of color distortion and are unpalatable. For some reason it is recognizing gamegear games as sms games and 32x games just go to a black screen.

CAN NOT RECOGNIZE ANY MICRO SD CARD! sel error: 50
sel error: 50 when trying to select game. Seems like other people are have this same issue! First of all it DOES NOT SUPPORT an actual SD card (only micro sd card) it won't fit in the slot! Second of all, I have tried every every micro sd card from sandisk, Kingston, Samsung etc.. it won't recognize any of them. I formatted them in FAT32 and none of them read. If you hold down ABC on the controller then turn on your sega it will show a menu (repair os and format sd card) pressing A to detect SD card states that it can't detect sd card even if you formatted it on your PC computer. I am thinking there are a lot of these defective clones and ZERO quality testing at the assembly line. Hoping to get a replacement that actually works but who knows don't waste your money? starting to feel like it..

Mostly functional. Great for games that don't require saves.
The good news is that it works fine as a flashcart. The unfortunate news is that you CANNOT trust it to keep your saves.I was playing through Crusader of Centy and everything was going well. My save game always seemed to function as intended and it felt like there was nothing to worry about. Spent around 5 hours across a few different play sessions and everything was going great. At some point I decided to play another game for a bit. Later in the week I decided to go back to Crusader of Centy. The game flashed fine and booted. Went to select my save so I could continue playing... No saves. Only option was to start a new game. I used the toolbox to try and load the save, thinking that maybe this cart doesn't automatically load the save file stored on the SD when you flash a game with an existing save file on-hand. No dice. It must have over-written the save data with a blank bank during the flashing process. I lost all my progress. I gotta say this makes me wary of ever starting another playthrough for any RPGs using this cart. It kind of defeats the purpose of owning a flashcart if it's going to blank over your saves every time you swap games. If I could do it all over I would not have purchased this cart and instead would have spent the extra money for a legit X5.This is is great for games that you can play without worrying about save files. If your intent is to play through some of the awesome RPGs available on the Genesis/Mega Drive such as Crusader of Centy, Shining Force, and the Phantasy Star series I would suggest to stay away from these clones and go with a legit Everdrive. There is nothing worse than not being able to rely on your save files.
