Shrimp fighting each other
So I have a newly budding planted tank with around 20 various shrimp I’m hoping on breeding. Amano, Ghost, Cherry, Blue Velvet, and a Vampire. Aside from the Vampire’s obvious disinterest being he’s a filter feeder, the shrimp flock to these wafers almost immediately after being dropped. I feed them one or two every three days or so and they really love it. Unfortunately my largest Amano has decided when I drop them he is the sole keeper and picks them up then slowly swims to a hiding spot in a get away attempt, of which he is quickly found. None of them have claws or can do any real damage but they always fight each other for the wafers. It’s hilarous. Like watching two really old people play tug of war over a box of cereal (True story). Sometimes they all gang up on the Amano and try to pull it from him resulting in a WWE style match. It’s quite entertaining. It’s big enough for them to all just share but no.Anyways, they like it and I read this was some of the best food because of the natural ingredients (seaweed, etc.) and the fact it doesn’t release nearly as many toxins from sitting in the water (If any I guess). I’m content and my shrimp are as well after they have all battled it out and stuffed their faces.

They love it when they're hungry
My cherry shrimp ignored this for weeks because the tank provided more than enough food for them already. It was a newly cycled tank with lots of biofilm. However now that they've eaten most of the food in the tank, they loveeee eating the Shirakura! Glad my money did not go to waste. :) I'll snap a shirakura piece into 4 pieces so more shrimps can have access to the food. I'll leave the food in there for a whole day before removing the leftovers, since the cherry shrimps continue to feed on it throughout the day. The food also does not disintegrate easily, even after 12 hrs. I mainly feed Shirakura, however sometimes i'll feed them Glasgarten's Bacter AE which helps grow more biofilm for the cherry shrimps.

Bladder snails love this stuff, too bad my shrimp don't!
Review for Shirakura Shrimp Ball FoodPros:1) It doesn't cloud the water.2) Bladder snails love it!Cons:1) My shrimp don't care for it.I have not been providing the shrimp in my aquarium with any additional food other than the algae that is already there. So, I thought this would be a good supplement for them. In addition I thought this would allow me to see all my shrimp gather in one spot, as other reviewers have stated "shrimp go crazy" for this stuff. Well, so far my shrimp don't seem to care for it. I have tried feeding this to them a couple of times and I have left it in my aquarium for hours (one pro about this, is that it doesn't break up easily), however, my shrimp just walk past it. Even my nerite snails don't seem to care for it but bladder snails seem to love it. Since I bought this for my shrimp, however, I can only give it one star. Not sure why the packaging says Shrimp "Ball" Food when they are actually small flat bricks.FYI: I have red cherries, tiger, and ghost shrimp.

Quality no mess food that no one wants to eat it.
About a week in and my Fire Red Shrimp, Whisker Shrimp, Micro Crabs, and paraotocinclus have absolutely no interest in the Shirakura Shrimp food. My Nerite Snails have run over it a few times but it looks like that was an accident each time, the rabbit snail loves it.Other than that, the food holds solid in the water for several hours, I've left one to soak and it started breaking up about a day and a half in.These would be a great No-mess staple for my shrimp if they ate them.Update: Three weeks in and bladder snails are all over this. If nothing else this'll help you centralize all the snails so you can cull them. +1 star

Excellent Shrimp Food
We have amanos, red cherries (RCS), yellow, orange, and blue shrimp. They ALL love this stuff. The tablets do not cloud the water at all -- not even after 12 hours in the tank. Even with shrimp piling on for hours, there is usually a signifiant amount remaining when I remove it. I find that good and bad because a used tablet should probably not be reused, so I end up throwing out a good portion each time.BTW, these tablets are so hard that they cannot be broken into pieces without a knife and significant force. (Yes, that's experience talking. Attempt only with caution.) The good news is that each tablet is best used whole -- otherwise, each shrimp will carry off a piece and some shrimp will go without (unless you can match number of shrimp to number of pieces).I've now used this food in four tanks with four different shrimp populations. Our shrimpies are healthy and loving it. If our shrimp could talk, I know that they'd say, "Yum!" Then, "Hey bring that back here. I want more!"

Great shrimp food for Japanese Algea Eater shrimp
Wow, it took 8 seconds to 30 seconds before there was an all-out brawl in the tank for these wafers! Great product.

Great food!
So far really excellent food. I'm feeding or to my blue velvets and they go crazy for it.I like how even after 2 days in water, it doesn't even break apart, giving the shrimp a longer time to eat it all.It instantly sinks if you hold it underwater, which is great because some foods float around for a long time and end up getting blown apart by the filter outflow. The food is a perfect portion for my 20 blue velvets in my 5-gallon tank and lasts about a day and a half or so before they eat it all. Which is perfect, because it doesn't allow the food to rot had it been a bigger portion. All in all great food! It's always appreciated if you found this review to be helpful, to give it a like. Thanks!

Shrimp buffet
When I first saw the reviews I was worried my shrimp might not touch it. To my relief within 10 minutes there was a shrimp on it and within the next hour 4-5 more came to join in. Regarding the quality of the food, they seem to really enjoy it because they stay eating it for a long time. On top of that the food DOES NOT crumble at all. I left a piece in the tank over night and it's still completely solid. I don't even see any of it crumbling underneath, it's completely together. I was using smaller food before and it would get lost in my hair grass and start to fuzz pretty quickly. This is a game changer for me, plus it will last extremely long. One piece is good for a lot of shrimp.

My shrimp were not interested in the food at all.
I don't normally write bad reviews but I had some high expectations for this food. The shrimp do not seem to be very interested in this food at all.If I put a generic algae wafer inside the tank and this food the shrimp prefer the algae wafer. The only advantage this food has is that it does not crumble after a few days but I have had to remove it from the tank a handful of the times because the shrimp do not finish it.I have about 25 shrimp in the tank and they can't even finish one peice but they finish the wafer from a generic brand overnight and seem to go crazy over it.I've seen maybe a handful of shrimp nibble on it but it never finish it. The only reason I didnt give this one star is because at least it didn't kill any of my shrimp.I have attached a photo of the shrimp eating a different brand algae wafer and completely ignoring the Shirakura brand.I've also done tests and put one tablet (of this brand vs a cheap algae wafer) on each side of the tank and the shrimp always prefer the other brand compared to the Shirakura brand.

My snails loved it, but it has be softened.
I bought this food for my snails since I heard that it makes their shells strong and shiny. I gave 3 pieces out of the package, and snails licked them, but gave up soon afterward because they were too hard.So I soaked them in water, blended with lettuce, water and gelatin, and made snail jello. Then my snails absolutely loved them. I just hope they keep eating the jello... my snails often eat new food with passion and ignore it later.

Excellent shrimp food
Outstanding product. Doesn't get de solved in water and the shrimps are just not moving away from the chunks.I didn't know about how much should offer to my shrimp colony. I threw two of these pieces in my red cherry shrimp tank (about 150 shrimps) and I found that one should have been enough. Apparently they liked it better than Hikari shrimp cuisine.
