Will a regular tank with a black light have the same effect as these fancy led blue bulbs?

It'd probably be a little different. These are just blue led lights....

Where is the filter located inside of the assembled tank?

Hi. There is no lid on the top of the aquarium and the filter sits on the right hand side. It's a nice filter does a great job. We clean it once a week and replace the charcoal bag once a month. The yearly cost for the filters is about 11.99. It has a nice waterfall effect to it. My daughter who changes her mind so many times a day is still in love with her glo fish tank. I hope this helps.

Is the filter flow gentle enough for a Betta?

We have 1 small glo-fish in the tank and the filter is very gentle as it doesn't push the water around too much. It is extremely quiet also

Has anyone used this tank with the fake silicone jellyfish found elsewhere on Amazon? Unclear if they require special tanks that they are sold with.

They don't require a special tank, but they do fade quickly and don't retain their pretty glow. I got mine on eBay along with silicone corals that suctioned to the sides of the tank. They do look pretty under the blue LEDs.
