Do not buy this product!
If I could give this product 0 stars I would. It was shipped well however after putting the correct oil and fule in I tested it in a water barrel. The motor seezed up and cracked the block. Do not buy this product!

For the experienced user.
The directions are in Chinese. You should not purchase unless you are very familiar with small outboard motors. It is not made for every day use in salt water.

Starts every time!
It is being used on an inflatable dinghy in Florida. It is near the ocean water everyday. The tank already starting to look rusty though we spray it with water repellent spray often. It is holding up well so far an hasn't given us any issues. To use it in reverse you have to hold it down into the water as it wants to pop up when you give it any throttle. It is working fine. We are glad we got it. Good value!

Make sure you add gear oil
Great little motor, runs great after starting, I am at 9,000ft , could explain the difficulty starting without starter fluid, pull cord handle brittle broke on first day replaced with better quality pull handle from amazon

Do not purchase this motor.
This product blew oil out of the carb with the initial start up and and smoked worse than a bug fogger. Shut it off immediately and started the return process. I will update this as it goes and pray I do not get the hard time I've just read others are getting when trying to return.

Piece of crap!!!
I have owned one of these Hangkai 3.5 outboards before, and had no problems with it. This one, however, is a piece of junk!I followed all instructions. I put gear oil in the lower unit, and filled fuel tank with the appropriate fuel mix. I spent no less than 2 hours, and pulled the pull rope hundreds of times, after priming. This motor WOULD NOT START at all. I removed the cover to the upper unit, and the plastic choke switch was broken off, and just hanging there. Contacted seller, requesting full refund. Still waiting on reply.I would give this zero stars if I could.

Please Beware!
After reading many reviews and hours of thought I decided to give the least expensive Hangkai 3.5 outboard a try. I figured if this didn't work out at least I didn't waste a lot of money as I would have on a bigger motor.I followed all recommendations from the owners manual and you tube videos as well. Added gear lube, 35 to 1 gas ratio and 10 hour break in period. Had it running pretty good although the throttle was not quite right and then the choke lever snapped. I looked all over the internet to order another and could not find anything. Tried tracking down the manufacturer and nothing. I believe I read one of the other reviews that had the same problem. Went down to the local marina and bought a Mercury 2.5, I can at least get parts for this. Not a happy camper!!

The engine starts easily runs smoothly, great and very easy to use. Didn't come with a manual in English.
