Special Edition Cryptex USB Flash Drive 64 GB, USB 3.0, Gold Edition

Good:- Very nice looking design. Looks exactly how it is advertise.- Thumb drive has decent read/write speed.- The leather strap on it adds a nice touch.- Seems very durable (I've only had it a day and intend to lock it up anyway)- The numbers have to be pretty close to exactly aligned for it to open. I like that because people just trying to guess the combination have to be pretty exact with the numbers.Bad:- It came smudged and with a couple of dings. I ordered it new, but it definitely seems it was returned and repackaged.- If I get the first 4 digits right, it will open, regardless of what I put for the 5th digit. Since the codex part of this thumb drive is its key feature, and the part that I paid considerably more for (could've bought any 64gb thumb drive for probably less than $10), I'm pretty disappointed that it doesn't work correctly. This reason alone is why I knocked off 2 stars.

I only gave this four stars because the numbers seem a little cheap, in a few years i will probably mark digits on a different side than you are supposed to use to confuse would be sneak thieves of my intellectual property, or will I?It looked much nicer in the pictures, i thought that the inside rings would be more of a white with gold on the outside. I was also dismayed that i cannot jumble all the rings into nonsensical numbers, you can move the first few and the last one, but one ring gets stuck and is hard to move.All in all, this is probably one of the best thumb drives you can get, built in security, nice weight to it., and i bet you could have dropped this off of the world trade center 15 years ago and still been able to use the thumb drive after.

The concept of this device is great. A five digit security code. 64 GB. Problem is all you need is a small screw driver and you can bypass knowing the code. There are four screws that are on the out side of the device that can be taken off and the whole thing falls apart and exposes the flash drive. I have a different device with the same capability but only 32GB. Fortunately you can only get to the screws that hold it together by knowing the code and opening the device.

Bought as a gift for my best friend. Impressive, comes in a soft, drawstring bag inside a cardboard cylinder, with instructions. 64gb usb3, which is large and fast. My friend liked it, especially after I showed him how to open it. It has a numeric password, on a sticker, on the bottom. Easy to use (for me a puzzle guy). Beautiful and useful.

Combination and USB drive works fine. Seems to be pretty good build. I must admit not seeing it in the product description, but now see in the answered questions. Was caught off guard when I realized you can't change the combination value. Wish it had that option.. Only reason I knocked a star off rating.

Like that you can lock it up. Have to get used to where you line up the numbers to get it out of the housing. Works good no problems

Nice large 64-GB drive. However, it's very hard to turn the wheels (at least on my unit) to enter the code numbers to expose the USB connector. Also, there's no indication on which of the four sides the code goes, so it's hit or miss. After several tries, I found it and it opened just fine.

This is amazing. It makes a great gift.It is not programmable to your own combination (duh).

Das Produkt ist sehr gut verarbeitet und ist ein echter Hingucker. das Entriegeln und Verriegeln ist tadellos. Nichts schrammt, quietscht oder blockiert.Leider aber musste ich feststellen, dass entgegen dem Aufdruck auf der Verpackung es eben NICHT nach den originalen Zeichnungen von Leonardo Da Vinci gebaut wurde bzw das Schloss funktioniert.Beim originalen Schloss von Da Vinci sind die einzelnen Ringe mit den Zahlen (oder Buchstaben) nur die äußeren Ringe, welche innere Ringe antreiben. Durch eine Verstellung der äußeren zu den inneren Ringen kann man den Code individuell anpassen.HIER allerdings gibt es diese Möglichkeit nicht!!! Hier ist der Code nicht veränderbar weil es keinen inneren und äußeren Ring gibt, sondern eben nur den einen.Abgesehen davon dass daher die Angabe auf der Verpackung und hier in der Anpreisung somit falsch ist, ist das Schloss natürlich nur noch Makulatur wenn man den Code nicht individualisieren kann.Ich habe bereits zahlreiche Cryptex selbst gebaut und weiß daher sehr genau wie ein Cryptex funktioniert. Dies ist nur ein optischer Cryptex, aber weit davon entfernt eines Da Vinci würdig zu sein.Die 3 Punkte gibt es ausschließlich für die Optik, die akkurate Verarbeitung und die rudimentäre Lock-Funktion.
