Apply to wet hair. Lather, rinse, and repeat. For additional brightening and color, leave second lather on for 3 to 5 minutes. No patch test required.

The Only Shampoo I Use
Keeps my salt and pepper (emphasis on the salt these days!) perfectly bright. I constantly get compliments on my hair, and I recommend this to my friends are are deciding to go with their natural color. Gray never looked so good! I have been using Clairol Shimmer Lights shampoo and conditioner for several years now and would never use anything else. It always rinses out clean and leaves my hair soft and conditioned and easy to style.

Recommended by my hairdresser and I love it.
This was recommended to me by my hairdresser and I’ve been using it for years. It is awesome for brightening my blonde highlights and I love the way it smells. It isn’t as hard on my hair as other brands I’ve used. I still only use it once per week to keep damage to a minimum. It took me awhile to build a habit of rinsing down the entire shower and curtain after this shampoo is rinsed out to prevent purple blobs all over, but now I’m in the habit and dont have any issues with that. If I had a fixed shower head I’d probably have a problem keeping my shower clean after using this.

Gets the job done
I had ran out of purple shampoo. This came quickly, well packaged. I leave it on to process while I was wash my body and face and then rinse. I do this a few times a week, letting it sit longer on the weekends when I have more time. No more yellow! I've been a fan of shimmer lights for years. I'm sure there's more expensive stuff that works as well/better but this has always done the trick for me.

It delivers
I found this shampoo does what is says. My hair doesn't look so drab and lifeless as before. Its softer and more manageable and has a nice healthy shine to it. The only thing that holds it back from 5-stars is the smell, which reminds me of a cheap air freshener you'd find in a gas station bathroom. But that is easily masked by following up with a quality hair conditioner. Don't let that comment dissuade you from trying it.

HORRIBLE PACKAGING - GREAT PRODUCT
CONS:This is ridiculous. My shampoo came in a box wrapped in a plastic bag, with some plastic floaties in it. None of this accounted for the pump, which broke clean off and leaked EVERYWHERE. Guess I missed the description where it said I was buying only HALF A BOTTLE? Considering the other 50% is all over the box and my floor. That being said, the cons for the actual product would be this: It is not that hydrating. I have found much more hydrating shampoo's for bleached blonde hair -they just aren't purple. So make sure you follow up with conditioner! It is a must with this guy.PROS:Let me start off by saying that I LOVE this product. I used to buy this stuff at my local sally's before I moved up to Barrow, Alaska. I bleach my own hair. Bleach + Volume 20 for 3 hours, give or take half an hour, and than follow up with WELLA T118 White Lady toner. Once every three or four days I wash my hair with this shampoo. Then I take the conditioner, mix it heavily with my argan oil conditioner, and rub that in to my hair to sit for at least 2 hours. Keeps my hair looking shiny and fresh and white! AND it feels so soft!JUST WISH THERE WAS SOMEONE I COULD TALK TO ABOUT GETTING A REFUND OR REPLACEMENT PRODUCT.

Best Shampoo Available for Getting Rid of Brassiness
My problem was brassiness from 30vol bleach for highlights that doesn't take blonde light enough (brassy yellow instead of lemon yellow that 40vol gives, but also has a greater risk for breaking fine hair). So, I tried a purple shampoo & conditioner, which didn't do much, if anything, to remove the brassiness. On searches turned up a suggestion to try purple food coloring to get rid of brassiness. After a week or so of daily adding that to my purple conditioner (thinking I was "enhancing" its effectiveness), I finally realized my low lights had turned red, so I was worse than where I began. But, I'm not surprised since purple is, after all, made by combining blue and red. What to do? I needed a blue shampoo (short of professional toners). All "silver" shampoos, it turned out, were purple, except this one from Clairol. I followed a reviewer's instructions and shampooed once, rinsed, then shampooed a 2nd time, towel dried the hair to remove most of the excess water, and put a shower cap over the 2nd shampooing, followed by a towel wrap to catch water drips. Left that on for 45 minutes, checked the progress (looking good and not red!), so rinsed well and styled it. WOW, it took out ALL the red and left my highlights a little darker, but still visible, AND my hair very conditioned, shiny and unusually manageable - very hard to achieve in my dry climate. While one has to watch the process and not let it get too ashy, it worked wonderfully. Just watch it, especially your ends (and even more carefully with bleached ends), and stop when it appears to be enough. Someone wrote that twice a week is perfect, so I'll try that. I used it the next day as a "normal" shampoo in the shower and after drying it, the hair appeared to be a bit greyer, so I knew daily use might be too much. Conclusion: for getting rid of brassiness, or unwanted red tones, this is my new go-to! Stay away from purple products unless you want reddish tones.

The best shampoo for grey hair!
This shampoo was recommended by my hairdresser, to highlight my grey hairs (which, btw, I worked hard for every one of these proud grey hairs! When I received the bottle and opened the box, the bottle (with a plunger on the 30+ ounce size) was inside a zip-lock-type bag, which wasn't 'locked'. The bottle's lid had come loond emptied nearly half the bottle of the beautiful, dark purple shampoo all over the air-pillow bags, and the entire box's inside. A total mess. I called about a replacement (the equivalent amount which was coating the too-bid box.I got a quick, courteous response, and within a few days, I received my replacement bottle.I LOVE this shampoo; the 31.5 ounce size comes with a plunger, which dispenses the shampoo with one hand. It's thick, luxurious, smells wonderful, makes my hair extremely soft, and as with most professional shampoos, rinses out fast and cleanly. I highly recommend this shampoo.
