Overall, an easy fun craft project for kids
Both of my children had fun making these easy to assemble cupcake soaps. The kit comes in a very nice sized plastic carrying case. In this box, you get enough supplies to decorate 4 cupcake soaps. The soaps are already pre-made. This is not a soap making kit but rather a soap decorating kit.The pictures on the box cover are misleading. Both I and my daughter thought that you would get all the character figures shown. She really wanted the narwhal figure shown on the package. What she got was a 1.5" plastic unicorn and three smaller decorative toppers. Also in the package are 3 bags of decorative sprinkles, 4 bags of soap frosting mix, 4 plastic frosting bags, and 3 decorative frosting applicator tips. Basically all you do is mix up the frosting soap and apply it to the lightly fruity scented cupcake soap bases. Then add decorative sprinkles and the plastic figures. Let it dry and it is ready to be used. The tricky part to this is getting the soapy frosting base the right consistency. For some ridiculous reason, you need to add 9 ml of water. Why did they not make it an easy 10 ml? I recommend slowly adding the water until you get the texture of paste. Also the colors are not like on the package. The frosting colors are rather muddy. The four colors are mustard yellow, dull sage green, a purplish red and a salmon pink.

OVERALL QUITE NICE, BUT . . .
The picture they show of this above looks like the case is stuffed to the brim with soap-making supplies. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The supplies included wouold only cover the bottom 1/4 of the case. The case measures 13-1/2" x 6-1/2" and about 5" deep. The first thing you notice when you open the lid is the four pre-made cupcake bottom soaps. This is a soap kit. Why are those already made. They are supposed to be fragranced with fruit smells, but I couldn't detect any scent coming off them. Perhaps they would smell better if they were wet. Also included is one 8'1/2 x 5-3/4" sheet of bubble-themed stickers to be used for decorating the plastic case. Other supplies include 4-cream powder pouches, four Wilton-type cake decorating bags, 3-decorating tips that go with the bags, 1-surprise cupcake soap topper (mine is a llama), 1-water measuring spoon, 3-small packs of decoration sprinkles, and 3-silicon surprise toppers.since this is, in fact, a soap-making kit, I'm really disappointed that the soap cupcake bottoms are already molded and made. I don't understand why the manufacturer chose to pre-make that part. The packaging says this kit is for kids 6+, but I think kids that age are going to need a fair amount of help. I do think kids will enjoy mixing the cream powders with water and squirting it on top of the cupcake bases with the decorating bags and tips. But here again, I think a 6+yo will need some guidance. The sprinkles and toppers are something any child can do.I do like the idea of putting all the supplies into a plastic carry case is a good. That way the child will have something they can use to store some of their precious things after the soap-making is finished.Overall, I like the kit. I just think the kit should allow the child to make the soap cupcake bottoms. I took two stars off for that because this is, after all, a soap-making kit.

The case makes the kit and it works! No regrets here.
My daughter recently used her own money to purchase a soap making kit. It was a huge flop -- the soaps never set up and made a huge mess and an even bigger disappointment. This kit is aimed at 6 and up and she is 9, but she was thrilled to get it just the same. My daughter easily opened and worked on this kit without any adult intervention and was proud of her results. It comes with everything you need to make creative and fun soaps. 4 different soaps in 4 different scents, little toppers to decorate, a sticker sheet, and anything else you might need to make darling cupcake styled soaps. The scents to the soaps were nice and not overly chemically smelling. To be honest they were too cute to use and have been displayed lovingly on her shelf.Once the kit was finished, the case has become a well loved place to stash some of her craft stuff. It is solid plastic, well made with a nice handle. Opens and closes easily but not so easy that it pops open unexpectedly. In my opinion the case alone was worth the cost of the kit.

This is a soap decorating kit...NOT a kit for creating actual soap.
When I ordered this Canal Toys USA Ltd So Soap DIY - Soap Case, I presumed that we would actually get a kit for making actual soap. What this is, actually, is a kit that INCLUDES pre-made soap that is in the shape of cupcakes that you decorate/top off with "frosting" and sprinkles, along with a topper, to make it look like a cupcake. While it was reasonably fun and cute, it was a disappointment to me that this was NOT a DIY soap kit where you actually made the soap yourself.I got this for my special needs son, as I love doing stuff with him that's crafty and hands-on, and this looked like a great activity for his special sensory needs. He DID have fun mixing this up and making the "frosting" to decorate the soaps, and was quite proud of his creations when he was finished. The results were cute, albeit messy, and it's certainly a fun activity to do with younger children. I like the case it comes in to store everything, and my son enjoyed using the stickers to decorate it.Overall, this is a fun set, but just take note of what this is and what it is not. This set will more or less teach kiddos how to decorate cupcakes by mixing up a "frosting" and using cake decorating tools, and they can have fun with their creations at bathtime to use as actual soap. Outside of that, there's not much more to it - no learning how to make soap (since it's already done for you) or anything else like that. That said, it's definitely an easy kit to have fun with - just be prepared for the inevitable mess!
